Wax and Metal

Singing silver in the sky,
thinks that life won't pass her by,
on wings of silver she will fly,
avoiding land where dead ones lie.

Metal feathers and waxen wings,
he didn't listen to a father's teachings,
only was told to pack his things,
should have remembered what flying high brings.

Golden eyes and feathered hair,
deep-set pupils take chance to glare,
both will not fly in their domain,
metal wings always bring pain.

Treacherous Ground

She steps out into the wild of the moor,
sighing into the breeze.
From her love, not a body nor ashes,
And a funeral that could only be poor.

A song on her lips,
to wash away her grief,
she stumbles, and she falls,
as the ground beneath her somehow dips.

As the earth begins to swallow her slowly,
she simply cannot find a way to care,
or even cry out to something holy,
as the land around her has teeth to bare.

She knows what has happened,
and smiles in relief.
As the land swallows her,
she can let go of her grief.
