Deity

Deity
Definition: a God, God like, Goddess, or a holy person

I am a deity
When it comes to poetry
So, please think carefully before you speak to me
Like, Langston Hughes “I am the dream holder”
Lyrical soldier
I hold dreams in this pen
Then unleash them on paper
Make comedy into tragedy
Like the great works of Shakespeare
Over coming heartache like Maya Angelou
Who was raped when she was seven years old
Stopped talking for years
All she felt was pain and tears
Learned five languages
And now has so much to say
Thanks to Robert Frost I know “Nothing gold can stay”
So, what are Wordsworth?
“The perfect woman”
In my eyes, but miscalculating
So sad, like Tupac “Sometimes eye cry”
Because I’m only human
With an immortal soul
A god upon men so, let the truth be told
I am a Deity
Like Zeus, or Hercules
Studied philosophies like Socrates
I walk amongst human beings like an entity
A divinity so can you see?
I’m just trying to be me
Lazarus was Jesus’ friend
Until the end
But couldn’t live with the guilt
I am the foundation on which empires are built
A coliseum I suppose
The stomping ground of a 1000 dead poet’s souls
No one knows my full potential
Something like Michael Angelo’s 16th Chapel
But, I’m here to stay
“A great life, is a long life lived”’
Like Confucius say
Felonious competition is no threat to me
One day you’ll understand, that I am a Deity

Impossible Is Nothing

Impossible is Nothing

Impossible is something that can’t be done
Like when Ali knocked out Liston
In the 1st round and won
Or when Kevin Garnett led the wolves to the playoffs
Like when OJ got off
Or, how much money Bill Gates makes from Microsoft
Impossible is Nothing
Of course
Like when the Williams sisters 1st stepped on a tennis court
Impossible doesn’t mean a thing
Like when Tiger Woods took his 1st swing
When Patty Labelle started to sing
When James Brown learned how to dance
This just isn’t by circumstance
Impossible is Nothing by far
Like when Jimmy Hendrix learned to play the guitar
Or the day I looked up to the stars
Impossible is Nothing to me
Because I’m still able to breathe
Still able to see
Still free, and still me
So, Impossible is Nothing for someone of my capabilities
And mental stabilities
That’s easy, so
Impossible is Nothing
Maybe to you Impossible is something
Of which you can’t imagine
Or fathom, or comprehend at all
You need to take the 1st step before you fall
And stand tall at whatever you do
As long as I have this pen
Then Impossible is Nothing
I still woke up this morning
And can pay my bills because of my skill
Maybe for the weak Impossible is something they seek
And say from the tip of their tongue
But, I’ll tell you one thing, for me
Impossible is Nothing

Rain

Rain

Tap-tap-tap
Silence, is all I hear
While I lye here with my eyes closed
It’s a new day
Tap-tap-tap
Is what I listen to as I lay
Like a sad love song in its own way
So, my thought collaborate on a fresh poem
With the smell of the outside after the rain,
But not today
Today is just grey and uninspirational
Drizzle and cold air with thoughts of despair
So I roll up, to put me in the mood
A false hallucinogen
An altered state of unconscious reality
Tap-tap-tap
Of bluish grey drops
That splash into puddles of shattered dreams
Makes me wanna drink some Herbal tea with Hennessey
Strange whispers of dark poetry
Lyrics and wisdom that’s spiritual minded
Now I realize why diamonds are blinded
Tap-tap-tap
I jump up and dress myself
Today is there day I make my mark
So I travel with lyrical thoughts of greatness
On the train it’s plain to see
That a lot of people feel just like me
Unsmiling faces and unfamiliar places
Generic clones of who they once were
And would be if society didn’t rob them of their dreams
With the reality of the world
Tap-tap-tap
I walk up the place to be and tell them who I be
The featured poet but he doesn’t believe me
Makes me wait in line with the rest of the nobody’s
Like a average Homosapein
But as soon as I get in I hear Ladies and Gentlemen
Lyrics and Wisdom
Silence is what I hear
After the claps and cheers
Time to be put on the map
So I begin with, Tap-tap-tap

American Beauty

American Beauty

Nubian Princess’ come in all shapes and sizes
It sends my heart a flutter
From blackberry molasses to the complexion of butter
Your presence brings me to my knees
And I begin to stutter
Before I can speak I just mutter
Your hair, jet black or nappy
Either way you want it makes me happy
Your style and grace is so mystifying
Ageless beauty that leaves me sighing
I love the way you look
With your creamy golden brown skin and nice full lips
The way your waist is small with shapely hips
Small hands with manicures finger tips
Almond eyes and small pointy nose
The way your breasts bounce because you walk on your toes
The attitude in your glide makes me shiver
You deliver confidence and elegance
I am truly blessed to be in your presence
I know that I’m a king
So can you please be the queen
Now bless me with your company
American Beauty
You will always be in my heart truly
Do you want to rule with me?
Because that’s our Destiny
Or you can be independent
Because you can do that too
I’m not mad at you
Do what you gotta do
I’ll always be here for you
Looks like an angel
So soft and feminine
Breath smells like cinnamon
Much more pretty when your attitude
Isn’t ignorant
To what you posses is magnificent
No other creature walks this planet better
Or ever could be
You are truly
An American Beauty

Wind

Wind

It’s evident that this element has been here before time
Is it all mine?
Just for me, this spring breeze seeping through my window
Maybe it is, maybe it isn’t
What is it?
Composed of Oxygen
That feels so good when it’s hot
But, hurts when its not
Sometimes it brings pain as a hurricane
Or, gloom as a monsoon
A typhoon is the perfect storm
Did it destroy the dinosaurs?
It’s much more than alight breeze
In springtime it’s a tease
In autumn it carries the leaves
But, doesn’t carry disease
It’s colorless, odorless, and tasteless
But so powerful
It’s invisible, but you know it’s there
Because you can feel it, can’t you?
It shakes you bones when it’s cold
In the snow you get chills from it
You can conceal it for a minute
Is it the same wind that flows with the Nile River?
Did it deliver Columbus to America?
Is it the same wind that causes mass hysteria?
In the Sahara Desert
Did it blow the nose off the Sphinx in Egypt?
Is it the same wind that caused the leaning Tower of Pisa?
Did it help create the continents on Earth?
Was it there when Mary gave birth?
If so, how?
Is it the same breeze I feel right now?

Snakes

Snakes

Watch out for them
They come in all shapes and sizes
Like chameleons
Stab you in the back
When you think they’re your friends
They can change colors
Cold-blooded reptiles
You can’t tame them
Because they belong in the wild
Forked tongue smile like a crocodile
Male and female alike
With no name
Who’s to blame?
You are
For letting them in your backyard
Being too kind
In the back of your mind
You know something’s not right
All they do is creep at night
And lay low
Like the Serpent and the Rainbow
Rattlers are the worst
Because they let you know
That they’re coming, gunning, got you running
Blindly through the woods, rainforest, and desert
They can adapt to any weather
Sea serpents are the smoothest
Because they don’t talk
Just peep your moves
With snake eyes and plot
Anacondas are a motha
They can squeeze the life right out of ya, slowly
King cobras are bolder
They show ya that there’re coming for ya
Can’t make a move
Because if you do, it’s too late, to start
Deadly venom racing for your heart
Some even can’t their diamonds back
I’m telling you the truth
It’s no lie, so you better recognize
Their disguise
They shed their skin right in front of your eyes
Then it’s too late
To realize it’s just a snake

Melancholy

Melancholy

I feel drugged although I don’t get high
I feel sad and don’t know why
I feel guilty although I never lie
I get board easily, so I constantly sigh
You ask why?
So, I say why, ask why?
Just comprehend my emotions that I clearly state with this pen
My best friend
So, relax and let the world pass you by
You don’t have anything else better to do
Do u?
While you’re sitting at your computer checking e-mails
And your monotonous job
Overworked and under paid
No benefits, trying to survive
I’m writing this, 2 the best of my wits, glorious
Isn’t it?
To eventually get international reconizition
For my pen collaborations
And just chill
Sign a deal, and let my poems pay the bills
So, I study the lessons of my predecessors and do the math
So I can drive down the same path
As Hughs, Robert Frost, and Maya Angelou
To fill those shoes would be great
So I debate, calculate
Each word is selected and interjected
With the utmost importance
Analyze this
So my work can be studied by Ive league colleges
My importance to this, subject matter
Is something u can’t fathom?
Or comprehend the meaning of
That’s what I love
To have a secret like the Mona Lisa
Each word so unique in its own way
Never the same
And this is by far not my best day
Or the worst
I’ll see
But 4 now I just feel
Melancholy

Water

Water

The flow is everlasting
Enchanting and disillusioned with truth
C 4 me, it’s easy, like water
2 put words to paper
When u stare 4 what? Seems like…ever
So that makes me better
More clever, whenever, or whatever the weather
Your rainy days are my sunny ones
It seems dark and gloomy, but not to me
That’s when I create another masterpiece
2 b studied by millions, off of this one feeling
It’s like water
Pure clean and clear, I know you can talk
But, can u hear?
Your words stink of fear
And I can tell that your scared to spit em’
Deliver them, pronunciate them correctly
Precisely the way way their supposed to b
But you don’t hear me
It’s like water
4 this Pieces, at home in natural surroundings
Each syllable is like the breast of a female
Each adjective is like the vagina
Each word that rhymes is like a fine ass dime
Giving me everlasting eargasms, everlasting
It’s like water
Torture 4 u, true
I know you don’t understand
Lazarus the great
And def in one ear
The beautiful thing is that I don’t care
It might make you a mortar
But, these lyrics and wisdom flow like
Water

A Dream Within a Dream

A Dream within a Dream
(Revised from Edgar Allen Poe’s original)

A though so stunning
Haunting, isn’t it?
An epiphany so bright, that you can envision it
Is this real?
Like something I can feel, or fake
A false truth that’s hard to take
For granted
So, I grant a wish
Not to live forever, but to dream forever
And never wake up
A beautiful mind so compelling
That it’s kinda messed up
For a normal brain capacity to handle
An overload of material
So rich it’s sick
It’s like my life, lived all over again
But different
I sense what’s in store
I know so much more
Truth sets me free, so I live dangerously
And carefree, because it’s real to me
A dream that I think I’ll wake up from sleep
But, it keeps repeating over and over again
Until I can’t comprehend
Real from unreal
But I still maintain sanity
This is my unconscious reality
Uncensored penmanship is how I survive
In a world that’s technically consuming
Eating me alive
So I dig up ancient poems of poetry
From the archives and revise
A masterpiece
From great minds before me
But I’ll one day be the greatest it seems
That it’s just a dream within a dream
