Ever Lasting Love

Since you’ve come into my life everything has been so new.
I never thought I had it in me to love another the way I love you.
You’ve opened my eyes and given me what I desire.
That’s why when I see your precious face its sets my soul on fire.
Doubts lead to patience which lead to understanding.
At times we both can be so damn demanding.
Tears meet with fears.
Battles with severe emotions.
Which clearly showed how much we’ve devoted.
My heart yearns your attention and affection.
Take one look and there’s your reflection.
Living without you is impossible and so unreal.
Loyalty, honesty, and sacrifice seals the deal.

Being Black

They say go to the back, or we don't serve your kind.
Feeling the fight was in vain and we back in time.
Looks of disgust, with prejudice eyes upon me.
Yeah I'm BLACK and so proud to be.
Tell me it's a minimum and think I'm not suppose to blink.
Racial slurs, cruel intentions with minds that don't think.
Standards of such come with a price.
I'm fed up with this mess trying to be nice.
Yeah I'm BLACK and so proud to be.
Like it or love it because I'm always going to be me.

Back-Stabber

How come the world is filled with so many haters?
With not enough courage on which we cater.
They harass your thoughts and defy your character.
Trying to mock your image, into things that don’t matter.
Hopping from place to face to make a scene.
Only to get noticed so you can tell everything.
Laugh in my face, smile behind my back.
Sneaky snake, cold-blooded now that’s a fact.
An entertainer on stage, yes you should be.
Thinking I don’t know you, thinking I don’t see.
I wish you only the best, with what you can confess.
Kindness kills all, so let the truth do the rest.

So Called Friends

I pour my soul to you.
You tell me it's not true.
I confess my horrible faults.
Yet you say that I'm all talk.
You claim that you have my back.
Yet when I turn your gone just like that.
Oh now you want to be my friend.
When things were going wrong where were you then.

On the Outside Looking In

Life's journey begins and ends with you
Who are we to know when peace and humility needs to be a force reckon with
Who am I to judge
Who am I
Who is this person that resembles me in the mirror
Where is my heart, mind, or soul
How do I learn to love myself and appreciate life's value
And how do lessons of life teach us to be stronger
All I'm saying is stay true to one's self because we tend to neglect our own needs
to satisfy everyone else's craving.

Confused Love

Sometimes love is pain and pain is love.
Missing that special love only confuses that pain.
You truly don't miss a thing until it's gone.
And the feeling of that missing element only stabilizes the pain.
At times this love can be misinterpreted with lust.
A heart never lies but a mind can be manipulated.
Which is more trustworthy and which is less deserving?

Family Ties

Hold my hand and dust me off.
Cry my tears and think my thoughts.
You see my faults yet trust my soul.
Teach as I grow as I was your own.
We’ve shared some times and fought years too.
Making a promise, to stick like glue.
Just being my brother, sister or mother.
Has made life dreamy wouldn’t trade it for another.

Summer

Temperatures are always at their peak.
We've only just begun these summer weeks.
Children running through water.
People ready to get down and party.
Beaches, yachts, spending time with friends.
You can only imagine some of the places I've been.
Laying poolside enjoying the food & wine.
I've packed up and left all my worries behind.

When All Is Said & Done

Kiss of death awaits luscious lips
Motions of disgust with pale fingertips
What really matters, or does anything even matters at all
Lights of trust, devotion, and stability crumble and fall
No rules, life lines or battles for the unknown
Life is precious yet hard as a stone
Heavy hands with lifted fingers
Minds that think still pull triggers
Always looking for stacks & bigger figures
Barrels of love
Crates for snakes
Hungry desires
We give and we take

Money Talk

I had a talk with money the other day.
So much in my head and so much to say.
Though you are the root of all evil.
Why is it so necessary to all people?
We'll turn our backs on the ones we love.
Short change our soul is what it does.
Happy to see you yet sad to see you go.
Bills, clothes, whatever is needed to spend the dough.
If there is so much of it to go around.
Why are so many less fortunate without a dime?
I know we can't live without it cause we need it to survive.
However under certain circumstances rules may need to be applied.
So do what you have to, to get that money.
Yet don't let it change you and start acting funny.
