A Fool In Love

You come home late
		and broke again
		and once again
		I let you in

		You lay around
		while I do the work
		and once again
		I clean and curse

You look for me to pay the bills
		and once again
		I say I will

You turn to me to clean your clothes
		and once again
		I wash all loads

		What’s wrong with me
		am I a fool
		cause once again
		I excuse your mood

There’s more to love that meets the eye
It’s hard for a heart in love to die
I must move on - I always say
but once again you have your way

A Keeper

I have a real man that’s good to me
the kind of good like it ought to be
committed and respectful makes him a ten
our relationship is envied by all of my friends

Our love withstands the test of time
it’s a progressive love – it’s a rare find
we give and take in the effort of love
possessing a partnership that many dream of

We face life challenges like others do
but do all we can to make it through
without holding on to guilt or blame
‘cause when you do things aren’t the same

Making time for each other is always a must
that nurtures the bond and also builds trust
share in the chores inside and out
that turns a woman on without a doubt

I have a real man that’s good to me
he is a keeper don’t you agree

Ticktock

It always seems to be this way
my relationships just don’t last
time seems to be runnin’ out
and my clock is tickin’ fast

I’ve been reckless with the quickies
I’ve played the mistress too
what’s a single mom past forty
want a man to do

I want someone to cherish me
caress me with respect
not always tryin’ to figure out
how to put my mind in check

Forget the empty promises
I deserve a committin’ man
don’t fly by here to see me
if you don’t intend to land

I’ve got a lot of love to give
perhaps I give too much
just to feel companionship
of a good man’s mental touch

Maybe it’s time to end the search
stop giving out my heart
turn a deaf ear to the ticks
and love me as a start

Praying for the kind of love
my heart and mind deserves
send the man I still dream of
the one God has reserved

Ladees R Us

I wish – I wish
I could take my man
and amputate both feet
replace them with the
strength to lead
through our troubles and defeats

I wish – I wish
I could take my man
erase the thoughts in his mind
replace them with romantic ones
spontaneously inclined

I wish – I wish
I could take my man
and transplant both blind eyes
replace them with the vision
to live a settled life

Perhaps you have a wish to add
just jot it down below
but if there’s more that comes to mind
it’s time to let him go

I wish – I wish
I could take my man
