Ellie Fields Poem
I wake up in pain
my wrists have shiny handcuffs
I am in jail
My heart feels ice-cold
It will not stop its beating
I wish it would stop
My cell mate is gone
I am feeling so alone
I just want to die

Ellie Fields Poem
Sometimes we humans need to be alone
To understand our own feelings.
In solitary, we get to know ourselves
through our deep and thorough examinations
Of our thoughts and desires.
We get the opportunity to look at our hearts and minds
To understand ourselves.
It is as if we see our lives in a clear jar
And can look at it from all sides.
We are able to forget the world
And all the stress and frustration it gives us.
The feeling of letting it all go can feel so good;
Like being set free after a million years of spiritual captivity.
It feels as if you are walking through glorious Eden.
So why don't you join me in this great sensation;
Just the simple, satisfactory sensation
Of being alone.
