Letting Go

Letting you go was never easy
Exhausted friends trying to please me
Toes freezing as I wander around
Trembling body hits the ground
Instincts whispering, “Go home”
Neglecting thoughts to be alone
Green eyed memories give me sorrow

Goodbye for now until tomorrow
Only time is left to borrow

I saw you sleep for the first time in years
At the side of your crying mother
That night I drowned myself in beers
Begging, take me and not my lover

Living life for you
Fell in love with shooting stars
Souls will meet again

Mondays

Coffee scented procrastination,

Time is an illusion

Who Am I

Chaotic search for an answer
Whirling thoughts overwhelm me
Mind like a computer
Words soft like velvet
A skittish baby deer

Drinking $2 black coffee
I could have made it at home
Pretension all around me
Utter silence restrains me
I am no better than anybody

Heterochromatic eyes scan the room
What a black and white world with open eyes
With every blink, rainbow stars explode
Dreaming of breaking out in song
Adventure and licorice scented treats

Wishful thinking to break walls down
My soul setting the room ablaze
Blinding emotions, covered eyes
I dream of being free
For now, I'll drink my $2 coffee
I could have made at home

I Hate Sun Allergies

My arms form constellations,
the sun smirks with revenge

If I Could Change the World

I want to save the world
The tears rolling down a child's face
The disappearance of their mother
When she's had too much to drink

I want to change the world
The panicked screams of students
Policemen scatter through the rain
Fears based off of black umbrellas

I want to protect the world
Selling bodies just for dinner
Distant teenagers forced fingers
Operas of the empty stomachs

I want to hide the world
A pair of eyes through bedroom windows
Declarations of love with threats of violence
Nobody could love you like they could

Fiery explosions destroying families
Cracks of knuckles against walls
Poisoned water causing sickness
I expected I'd wake up by now

We need to change the world

One More Shot

With crinkled eyes, I watched the lights flicker
The chirps of the newly awakened birds
My body felt weightless under a sea of bourbon
Laughing at childhood memories so long ago
I felt the burn slide down my throat
A plastic bag blew in the wind
And still I sat on cold concrete reflecting
Life seemed too short to waste
Yet, I watched the sun peek over the mountains
My bleeding foot, a lapse in memory
A broken heart tucked into bed
Life is too short to feel regret
Life is too short to feel at all
With one more shot, I'll watch the sun rise
And give it a shot in Fall

Seasons

In Spring, I adored you
The tree blossoms drifting with the wind
White petals landing in raven hair
Harmonizing songs echoing in the valley

In Summer, I loved you
The sun sprinkling freckles across my cheeks
The glitter of falling water
My sweating palms in yours

In Autumn, I resented you
The crunching leaves at my feet
The icy wind like your words
Feeling nostalgic under an orange sky

In Winter, I remembered you
The moon reflected off individual crystals
Stuck in a snow globe, no way to get out
Soon like Spring, I will be reborn

The Bell Tolled For Cole

Cole hated rainy days. He looked out of his window. He watched the raindrops bounce off the ground. Through grey clouds, a beam of light touched his face. "Why are you hiding, Mr. Sun? Did you have a bad day today?" Mr. Sun frowned and hid his face. The clouds yelled at Cole. "Why do you only care about Mr. Sun? We are the ones who bathe the flowers!" Cole shook his head and pleaded with the clouds, "You always seem so unhappy! I didn't mean to make you sad!" The clouds cried while the wind whispered, "Why do you only care about the clouds and Mr. Sun? I am the one who dances with the leaves. I am the one who sings with the bells." Cole cuffed his ears with his hands. "I care about all of you! Can't everybody be happy?" he begged. The bells began to chime and yell at once, "WHY CAN'T YOU BE HAPPY?" The church bell tolled for Cole. In a sudden gasp, he jumped up from his slumber. He wandered over to the window. He smiled at the rain.

My Fondest Memory

The twinkling shine of dark eyes
Chestnut locks, effortlessly waved
Like the tides of the ocean
Practicing yoga on rainy patios
While cigarette ashes burn my skin

Morrissey sung the songs of woe
I crumbled at your feet
Your lips on every fallen tear
Echoing duets fall to deafened ears
Yet, never admit defeat

I can almost remember
The warmth of your hands
The breeze of summer air
I fell in love with nature
When you're not there

Retrospect turned longing
Your green-thumbed lover's eyes glow
It matches the moon on winter nights
I lost my desire for your flesh
My heart shatters more for show

Those days raced by, an open door
I shook in my place
My memories remained pure
An escape to space
The gap tooth smile on your face

My fondest memory

You Said You'D Never Leave Me

My heart still aches from the day you left
I'd follow you to the ends of the earth
I tried to grasp onto fire
And cover up my burns

You told me I was beautiful
You said it was a lie
That I was so obsessed with attention
I was weaker when I cried

You told me I was charming
You said I tried too hard
That I was solely responsible
For every emotional scar

You said that I was perfect
Yet impossible to love
You always skipped the push
And resorted to the shove

You said you'd never leave me
You said that they would hate me
I cried myself to sleep at night
Until what happened lately

I met a man who loved me so
So much that he would die
A person with a heart of gold
Who never seems to lie

You told me I was stupid
You told me that he'd leave me
But I found love inside his arms
It wasn't really easy

I remembered every single word
I felt completely empty
But I found love in another's arms
You can no longer offend me
