Tiny Fingers

Tiny Fingers
Hand in mine,
How have our seasons
Intertwined?

Blood of my blood
Eyes of my Eyes
Have I the right
To claim this prize?

Little one
Before me now,
So many questions
why...and how...

I'll wipe your tears
if you should cry,
and I'll forgive you
when you lie.

I'll make mistakes
and when I do,
I hope that you'll
forgive me too

and as the seasons
come and go,
with love and pride
I'll watch you grow.

This gift from GOD
that I adore,
Just when i can't...
I love you more.

Waiting For Rain

Storm approaching suddenly
Run to the window...look and see.
Alluring glance from me to you,
without a word
you think it too.

A trail of clothes across the floor
from window pane,
to outside door

Secluded place,
a grassy field,
In open view,
(yet still concealed)

A blanket lay upon the ground
where you
and I
and rain
fall
d
o
w
n

Warn WET descends from summer skies
as birds and bees cover their eyes

Alas the rain comes to an end
return inside
to wait again :)

Explaining "14" To My Daughter

I know its not easy being Four-teen
I once walked the road that you’re on.

I can’t take the steps for you …I’ve done it already
my choice now to only look on.

I know all too well, that you think I know nothing
(‘cause I Once thought that same thing in my mind)

And today I see Mom, with new appreciation
you could say I know “less” now with time.

I “get”, that your life is now filled with decisions
that you aren’t prepared yet to make

There are things tearing at you from EVERY direction
and you don’t know which route you should take

But PLEASE, baby girl, take comfort in knowing that some of us made it past TEEN.
We struggled as you are, and feared as you do, that WE would be stuck in between

You probably won’t understand what I attempt to make clear
until you safely make it out too,

And one day you may have this same chat with YOUR daughter
trying to say that she’s so much like you.

When I look in your eyes and see so much confusion,
there’s an all too familiar pain

Though right now you don’t see it, one day YOU will be it.
It will then be your turn to explain.

Rest

I have tried to rest easy for hours.
Heavy eyes can't find sleep without you.
I toss endless in sheets that once wrapped us
and my wish for you near, won't come true.
You're too far, to wrap arms tight around me
and my dreams wait impatient inside.
This long night seems much darker without you
and my need for your touch won't subside.
I lie wrestless as morning approches,
hoping night will slip quickly away.
Pray for sleep as the quiet surrounds me,
clutching pillows where you do not lay.
I lay longing to hear your soft breathing,
as you did when you slept in my bed.
The night cruel and unkind,
search for you, just to find,
that I'm still lying lonely instead.
