The Conversation

He’s a lovely teacher,
A brilliant man and son,
One of the favourites in the family,
Always seems to be having fun!

No he’s not how he seems

He’s so loyal to his girlfriend,
No.. - he would never hurt a fly
Think about all the children
Who he has taught and inspired

Please listen to me
You’re lucky to have a cousin
Just like him he’s so polite
Never got into trouble.. because he never got caught
Not even a school fight!

So what is it you want to say?
Because we will never believe you
I know. Teenage girls always lie
He would say so too .

If you would give me the time of day
And not worry about our family’s reputation
I would tell you what has destroyed my life
If you’ll even listen to my explanation

What is it you want to say you stupid girl?
May as well say now I’m feeling jolly
I don’t have much time so go ahead
He sexually assaulted me.

Perfection

It is awaiting,
the prominent perfection I desire,
fingertips tracing insecurities,
media fuelling the fire.

The ideal takes reality,
burrows and distorts the view,
corrupting and twisting,
self deprecating smiles construe.

Along came a broken soul,
who desired the same perfection,
to stare at the ghost in the mirror,
and adore her own reflection.

As one we shall push,
rumbling and pain worth it all,
prevention can’t beat the cure,
or prepare to watch us fall.

Sex

Unaffected by physical beauty,
Takes time to build enough trust,
To let go, fall in love and believe,
To avoid your heart turning to dust.
The first time our eyes locked,
And our fingers intertwined,
I inhaled your essence deep,
Our eyes held gently onto time.
Every beat of my heart,
In dreams and awake,
Keep holding my hand and
A future we’ll make.
To fall madly in love,
You’d give them everything of your own,
Something you can never replicate,
To never feel alone.
I gave you my trust,
And all of my fragmented heart,
Doubts flickered through your mind,
Commitment you feared from the start
You took my first and the light from my soul
Awakened to find my one love was gone,
You may have had doubts or changed your mind,
Yet I will always believe you are the one.

My Best Friend

She tells me only have 5 bites,
or consume nothing at all,
one nibble after another,
my control levels start to fall.

She tells me I deserve it,
only the strong can be thin,
don’t give into the temptation of food,
only the willing will win.

She tells me to run,
bones were made to be shown,
skeletal should be my only desire,
covered in white hairs grown.

She is winning now,
numbers dropping on the scale,
looking in the mirror becomes torture,
but we are determined not to fail.

The Chase

Best friends with a girl, an animal lover
Who happened to have a good looking brother
All jumping about on the new trampoline,
She hit her nose and went inside to clean

I go to climb out but he is grabbing my arm
Not grabbing hard he wasn’t trying to harm
Putting his hand on my mouth and whispering in my ear
Don’t tell a soul or I’ll tell your mum you came here

At only ten I did not understand,
He’d grind for a while then remove his hand
I would go home unfazed and calm,
Yet my lips stained with the taste of his palm

For two years this happened nearly each day
The world a place I did not want to stay
then one day he tried to get me into his bed
I ran and he chased but I got ahead

After that I seemed to have a saviour
Even though he was my next door neighbour
No contact for two years or more
Then there was a knock at the door

I’m in love with you Emily, he said
Pulls me in close as he moves his head
I slam my door so it hits his face
And that’s how I ended up getting out of the chase

Broken

I hope the grass is greener,
As mine is dry and wilted,
I hope you find your happiness,
As mine is faint and stilted.

I hope you treat her well,
Since you’ve left me all alone,
I hope she gives you her all,
I wish she could have known.

I hope she makes you happy,
I wish i was enough for you,
I hope you have the best life,
I wish you felt the same too.

I hope you don’t forget about me,
I’d do anything to make you stay,
I hope you loved me back,
I’m sorry I pushed you away.
