The Chase
Best friends with a girl, an animal lover
Who happened to have a good looking brother
All jumping about on the new trampoline,
She hit her nose and went inside to clean
I go to climb out but he is grabbing my arm
Not grabbing hard he wasn’t trying to harm
Putting his hand on my mouth and whispering in my ear
Don’t tell a soul or I’ll tell your mum you came here
At only ten I did not understand,
He’d grind for a while then remove his hand
I would go home unfazed and calm,
Yet my lips stained with the taste of his palm
For two years this happened nearly each day
The world a place I did not want to stay
then one day he tried to get me into his bed
I ran and he chased but I got ahead
After that I seemed to have a saviour
Even though he was my next door neighbour
No contact for two years or more
Then there was a knock at the door
I’m in love with you Emily, he said
Pulls me in close as he moves his head
I slam my door so it hits his face
And that’s how I ended up getting out of the chase
