Oxygen Rushes In To Me

Oxygen Rushes In To Me Written By Brett Somers 12-19-16 The audible plunge, On a Somers night. Cleansing site. My hands free of this fight. I leaned back to throw. In my hand a small window. Moon kissed a glow. Eyes fixed beyond what I did know. Wind whipped my ear, Reminding me of things I didn’t want to hear. She’d stretched my heart, And then let it go. Like a rubber band, She’d let me go. My skin bare, Standing on shores edge. In my underwear. I don’t care. Up to my waste, A tear I could taste, I threw my ring. To break free of the hurting, To break free of the hurting. Above mountain’s silhouette it flew. Above, with haste it knew. Times arch has come to an end. Now, below, brackish waters bend. To consume this thing, To the end, To the end. Fell back into a salty sleep. My new life. And deep my breath withheld. My body aching to be free. Emerged above water’s edge, Oxygen rushes into me, Oxygen rushes into me.

Moonbeam Mari Anne

The Moonbeam Mari Anne A poem by Brett Somers
The moonbeam graced the Austin sky, The Mari Anne spirit whisking by. Spreading her love, Her mysterious zest, Manifesting turquoise upon my chest. And back she slipped, Beyond Austin she skipped, Like a stone on placid waters, The sound of her pitter patters. Swoops into New York and settles in. A jeweler of bead and pin, Crafting her Mari Anne, For yet another grateful and devoted fan! This poem is dedicated to the gifted jeweler and accomplished graphic designer Marianne Walther! -From WinkofHeart ;)

Ticks of Laughter

Ticks of Laughter
By Brett Somers
Written 3-12-16
What is this peacefulness you seek? This love that has you smiling cheek to cheek A second hand ticks And you laugh at it Ashes fall And you’re having a ball Do you not know the mood the brood the attitude Of the day in dismay Of the people on display A joy splat array of hurried and buried Multitudes of jury A bubble inside you Seeks to defy you Of worry Of that scurry That seems to belie you Remembrance of honey This drip sweet retreat Of all that was, is now, to be How you do it If they only knew it Would blast right through it And the night would be a ray Of moonlight Stars vibrating Clear skies Soft inviting wind To let them in

If Plants Could Talk

If Plants Could Talk Written by Brett Somers On 4-20-2016
Oh Sun, thank you one. Treat me soil thy toil my oil. Eat me critters. Nibble on my under leaf. That tickles when you hold me so. Wind blow stronger, I can withstand you. What a community are we, With so much vivacity. Oh humans, read a sonnet to me. Pluck my fruit and shade your loins. Feel my power, my strength. It will be in you soon to share, This energy beyond compare. Look at my beauty so faire. Dwell on my soft petals. Enchant thee in my wet meadows. Hold me closely as you pluck me neatly. Smell each note as you greet me. My fragrance flows past your nose, And to all that knows. Let this cup of dew renew, The very essence within you. My soft velvety curves, Enchant you. I bow to thee, My eternal beauty. From this fertile soil, I have risen to the heavens, For you to devour me.

Heart's Manifest

Heart’s Manifest Written by Brett Somers on 3-16-16
Just go Don’t think Your heart just gave you A wink It knows What’s right for you Your mind Can only think Feel right? Don’t fight Listen to it Hop on your flight Be there Within your chest Your heart knows what’s best Your mind But one task To listen to your heart’s manifest Now it’s up to you Which you listen to

Squirrels Know Better

Squirrels Know Better Written By Brett Somers On 3-17-16
Does a squirrel know it made a mess? Does it worry its scurry Is second best? Ravishing nuts Discarding shells Leaves flying Amongst dust feather tails When it bolts up a tree Does it complain about Its ADD? Or feel remiss Of the breaking branch On which it sits Why then do I gloom Over my disheveled room? The stacks of paper Heaps of clothes I plow through Why is the word procrastination A brick of dastardly creation? When all along I’ve been uncovering And discovering. My time well spent? Does the squirrel even reflect On which way it went? Who’s to say What’s good or bad anyway The matter that matters Is that chamber That pitter patters My soul is complete Regardless of where I take my feet Come on squirrel Let’s scurry up that tree We’ve got a nut to eat

Ifactory Reset

iFactory Reset Written by Brett Somers On 4-13-16
{Thank you for calling iFactory Reset} {Name?} Brett {Device Type?} Human {IMEI code?} xxx-xx-xx34 {What is it you’re calling for?} Memory's faded Processor’s jaded Bios clock is ticking too fast Program glitches From a complicated past Life files beyond defrag Inputs too many So they lag Outputs not enough to complete the day Home drive support is missing No relational database Barely even a tuple array Can’t get X’s and O’s From 1’s and 0’s My touch screen is frozen pink It’s been over a year Since I’ve had a good sync And there’s a certain user bug I just can’t shrug Without overheating This computer’s mug So please at last Will you reset my past? My info’s backed up in the cloud If that many gigabytes are aloud {Processing…Waiting…} {Processing…Waiting…} {Human Incompatibility Error} {Processing Rejected} Perhaps it’s best that there’s not a computer Beneath this chest Since pain and suffering Gives a human zest Maybe life isn’t a program after all Perhaps I’m not predestined to fall A computer at times may have less quirks But it was programmed to do certain work My life is of my own choosing And frustrating though at times it may be I prefer this choosing Over pre-programmed monotony

The Life of a Drop

The Life of a Drop
By Brett Somers
Written 3-14-16
A drop patiently awaits A fate it cannot abate A sprinkle in time A moment closer to flow It already knows. Down it will go With each midst It doesn’t resist With each expansion Grows wiser New molecules of wonder From ancient seas and thunder Holding on Its position firm On showers curtain It awaits its turn. A flow streams past One drop to end many Many drops become one But our drop holds on Eagerly filling its translucent bowl A shimmering watery soul Now feeling gravity’s throes Heavier and bulging It knows. A sudden shift downward Too heavy to hold From inside the tension subsides Walls collide Its grip forever lost But now enjoying the ride Flowing Glowing Sense of unknowing Joining other drops Picking up momentum Then all stops.

Homage To Poetry -Formerly Poet a Tree

Homage to Poetry (Formerly PoET a Tree) By Brett Somers 3/19/16
Poetry is everywhere It’s in our hearts It’s in our minds It’s the purest expression Of human kind It’s the breath Of our inner creation A touch of the divine As they sing the lines Of Dylan, Morrison, Kendrick Lamar To the base of their idling car They may say poetry ain’t cool Wiser – They know For poetry at times Is an abstract old fool
