Mango Lux Poem
The day I chose you
Compared to all the others
I saw the uniqueness of your colors
Looking back when you flew away
Broke my heart in pieces and stole all peace in living
When you were found my heart raced fast
I was beyond grateful that you came back
We moved forward and life was good
Until one day when you seemed strange
I saw you bleeding out in pain
Then news struck that you were sick
and surgery would bring an unknown risk
The vet said there was a slim chance
Like the usual medical script
Uncertain and scared I couldn't bare
To hear the panting from your chest
All from too big an egg
You couldn’t lay in your nest
Your appetite was lost and I was at a loss
I cupped you in my hands
Warm and unharmed
You were like snow melting away
Drifting from my heart
A change of season
There was a reason
For this lesson to be learned
You held on for the holidays to make our last memories
When the day of your dying came
It sure left me crying
But I know that you are...still flying

Sometimes I feel sorrowful
Unless I see a certain color
which we call yellow
Driving on the school bus at a fast speed
Until the yellow lights appear
To keep the students steady
The sun is an orange and yellow shade
My canary's name is Willow
Longfellow's pages were yellow
Even the jello my cousin Stelio made
Was a transparent yellow
What rhymes with yellow is Shakespeare's Othello
The corn maze I went to was yellow
The sunflower in my yard is a bright sunny
Yellow I can see it from my window pane with no trouble
Yellow brings me joy even when life gets tough
Yellow gets me through a rough day when I've had enough

Looking back when I saw you
We locked eyes and it was a staring contest from then on
We were meant to be
Been on cloud nine since our first date
The lovely friendship we have is above any rate
Now years down the road
The many memories that we have made
I hope to create more with you in the moments to come
You have helped me become who I am today
Just wanted to say happy anniversary
To my one and only love

We stick together like glue on paper
Late night secrets
And pillow fights
I steal your clothes
You wear my shoes
We argue about little things
But our laughing is nonstop
Holding hands on our adventures that never end
Splashing in the puddles wearing matching rainboots
Sitting on rocks and talking a lot
Nobody could ever replace you
Because your my sister
And I love you a whole lot
