It Was One of Those Mornings

Coughing here and there
Sick and in pain from last night
Sleep is all I want

A bright red sunrise
Filled with beauty and delight
Arranges my heart with hope

Spider In the Kitchen Sink

A plain beige kitchen. LED lights are lined along the top of the cabinets. Bright red bar stools line up next to the breakfast bar. The only flash of color. An old gas stove and oven, stained with black from past misuse. A sink in the corner, set at an angle, the water never seems to get warm. Someone left their dirty pale pink plastic dishes in it. Looking closer one can see that what was once thought of as a crack in the sink is actually a small spider. Elegant and minuscule. A speck of life and beauty in this unimpressive place.

The Mirror Lies

Wrong!
A little boy plays football.
His parents call him a "tomboy".
He doesn't understand what it means.

Wrong!
The boy is now twelve.
His best friend gets her period.
And puberty hits him hard.

Wrong!
His friends put him in dresses and makeup.
His parents are proud of their "little girl".
He doesn't get why this is happening.

Wrong!
Freshman year he gets a laptop.
A friend convinces him to join Tumblr.
He feels acceptance.

Wrong!
He learns about gender and sexuality.
He is relieved and happy.
He is finally not alone.

Wrong!
His helpful friend,
Kills himself due to unaccepting family.
The boy feels alone again.

Wrong!
He goes shopping with his brother.
His brother calls the cute couple in the corner "fags".
The boy doesn't understand how love is wrong.

Wrong!
He starts to wear baggier clothes and bind.
People call him; "dyke", "tranny", and "lesbo".
He just wants to be called a man.

Wrong!
He has hopes and dreams for a future.
He just wants to be himself.
He just wants to be happy...

...But every single time,
            he feels better about himself

He sees her in the mirror...

Kid

Kid,
You don’t really know that you want this
You are too young and naive
Children aren’t meant to have political thoughts
You can’t do this to yourself

Kid,
If you do this you will be ridiculed and mocked
Just accept your role and be a good girl
Play your part and be the damsel in distress for your prince
You can’t be the hero

Kid,
Just kiss the boy and be a girl
Play the role of the wife
Have children of your own
You must wear this mask and play this role

Kid,
Be quiet and don’t question why
Society doesn’t like kids like you
That is why you must hide
Be careful, don’t let anyone see this side of you

Parents,
I just want to express myself
Why can’t you accept me?
I’ve always been like this

I can’t be quiet!
Society needs to accept “kids” like me
Our generation is the future
I must do this!
...It might help another kid like me...

Two Lenses

When I was a kid, I wanted to be a mermaid
I thought the dresses were stunning and pretty
I would sit in the sun and tie my hair in a golden braid

Now all I want is to really change
I want to express myself as I truely am
Even if being a man is seen as strange

Dreams of the Future

Dreams,
A marvelous and wonderful thing
I have so many
And yet I still want them all

I want to further my studies
In the wonders of this vast universe
And the science behind it

The knowledge is there
And it beckons me to come and take part

The universe is full of many mysteries too
That just are begging to be figured out
And although I may not be the only one
I am one of the ones who yearns to discover more

I need to find out more

In my future
I see myself being truly happy with myself
And fulfilling as many of my dreams that I can

I might not be able to do everything that I dream of
But I can at least say that I tried and didn’t give up

The End

As the end draws near
I reflect upon my past
Memories fleeting

Moments passing by
Images and colors flicker
Dancing through my mind

I want to believe
That it was worth all the pain
That I was worth it

I close my blue eyes
Someone is calling my name
I think “this is it”

Box of Chocolate Candy For My Little Poet Destroyer

Sweet and makes me smile-it doesn't even compare to her and my love for her.

Summer Nights Musings

Stuck in this repeating day
It feels just like a broken record

Everyday is the same thing
Over and over, again

Go to sleep at the early hours of the morning
Wake up a few hours later, when the sun rises
Get up and get dressed
Then make some coffee
Do some meaningless tasks
And then it’s back to bed
It just keeps repeating

Somedays a slight change might happen
Like having to watch the niece and nephew
But then it almost always goes back to repeating
As soon as they leave

The only solace is that it will end soon

Falling In Love From a Distance

In 2014
I met the lady of my dreams
On my computer screen
Our group split into teams

Our friends knew
That something sparked
Our love grew
Into something that marked

On both our hearts
We spoke all the time
We our departs
I smile at my phone’s chime

Whenever she called
I was around
She had me enthralled
At her voice’s sound

She and I
Laughed until midnight
Neither wanted a goodbye
Her smile was so bright

As we aged
We lost our spark
As we became less teenaged
We seemed to lose that story arc

We still remain
Although not together
I just ignore the pain
I have much more to whether
