Frozen Hearts

Two people trapped in a wood
Where the sun waits too long to rise
One holds flint, the other steel
Sadly any thoughts of survival
Are clouded by despise
Their bodies grow cold
As the snow continues to blow
But neither their shivers, nor their coats
Can warm their hearts
Save their souls
Frost bitten fingers
Leave stubborn minds unchanged
Woefully their ire lingers
Prejudice blinds them to the pain
The only thing that can warm them now
Is brimstone and hellfire
Together on a throne they’ll sit
In the devil's fiery empire

Words of a Soldier

We who live
Will someday not
We'll lie in our graves
And sit
And rot
So give your life a purpose
A casket covered
With a flag unfurled
Take part in something
Remembered by the world
Do not fret over blood and tears
Don't let your hands tremble
After so many years
Be certain in your actions
Reminisce without regret
Trust me when I say
It's even worse to forget

Not You

I’m as crazy about you
as I am because of you.
How many times did I think
When it came to you that I was through.
Yet every time I see you
My heart jumps a little.
Days are spent,
Nights are dreamt thinking about you.
All I want is for you to be there when I wake.
But I now know
That all I’ve yearned for is a mistake.
The same words
That carry me through the day,
Stab like knives when you’re away.
The only thing that hurts
More than not having you
Is knowing that I can’t.
For some reason you still bring me in,
You enchant.
Like a flame to skin it causes pain.
But its the only thing keeping me stable.
The only thing making me sane.
That I’ve spent years
Looking for a soulmate is true.
Maybe I’ll find a little relief knowing
Its not you.

A Midnight Conversation

-And an orange inferno from the street nights, blistering the navy night. Gooey honey and a cracked egg yolk dripping from the sky's tongue. And of course it's raining, ever swam in the rain??

-Is that even a question? On a hot summer's night when the water is cool and the atmosphere warms the rain before it hits your skin. The sky is tumultuous and grey in the most magnificent way, lightning arcing across the cloud's furrowed brows, sending deafening thunder that resonates through your chest.

-You're dark is above you in the sky, mine is here, the shadows on our plane. And they hold me from behind, viciously kissing my neck. The temptation is plump and healthy.

-My dark is all encompassing, but my temptation feigns illness decrepitness. It deceives me to get what it wants
