Red and white stockings
Hang loose by the warm fire
Hot cocoa in hand

Sarah Stein Poem
Holidays can be fun to celebrate, especially
All Hallows Eve, which is Halloween Night
Lots of trick or treating, and candy
Looking around for people dressed in a variety of costumes
Outside the cool air cause goosebumps as if ghosts are lurking
When the people are encased in their homes
Everything becomes still and quiet
Evil spirits hoping to get a chance to walk among the living
No hope of being left alone

Sarah Stein Poem
I wait,
And wait,
And wait,
And wait,
But nothing.
No call,
No text,
Just silence.
“What’s the point?”
I question.
Every month
It’s the same
A reoccurring
Self-sabotage
Thought’s race
He doesn’t love you
He doesn’t care
He’s living his life
Out on the town
Forgetting about me
The one who
Takes care of the home,
His children,
And any other issue.
I’m old news
If the relationship were new
More attention would be bestowed
Why do I allow this to occur?
Hands clench scalp
Gripping with eyes shut
It’s all false
He truly cares, but
My thinking is skewed by
A chemical imbalance
Make this negative
Logic go away!

Days turned into years
Gone are the buds once vibrant
Life can’t be reversed

Sarah Stein Poem
We once visited Belize
It had the bluest seas
I tripped in the water
And bumped my daughter
Landing on my knees

Sarah Stein Poem
Reborn here now without baggage
To a place as far as Norway
I spread my wings and fly away
Inhaling a sense of dismay
As I break through the clouds freeway
Reborn here now without baggage
Content and smooth flight, no damage
Landing near a cliff by Red Bay
My heart yearns for a pleasing day
Every day was challenging
Reborn here now without baggage
My sanity I will salvage
A journey worth the whole package
No turning back, I choose to stay
The benefit is far outweighed
Reborn here now without baggage

Sarah Stein Poem
I laugh because
Every hateful
Word spewed
From your
Dirty mouth
Is a reflection
Of yourself!

Sarah Stein Poem
Stomping
Stomping
Stomping
Stop,
Please
No control,
Vehicle lurches
But I’m just a
Passenger on this
Road of life

Sarah Stein Poem
EVERY YEAR
This year
I haven’t asked for much
Just silence,
A few days to myself
To comprehend the future ahead
To focus on the inevitable
Starting all over again
No freedom
Until my late 50s
Acceptance is a hard pill
To swallow
This year
I haven’t asked for much
Just no more fussing
A need for good kids
At least once
Out of the many
Days, months, years
You’re in my care
Please, skip a day
And drop the bad act
This year
I haven’t asked for much
Just attention
From the one person
In the entire world
I’m begging and pleading
To literally look at me
Not as a mother to his kids,
But as a wanton woman
Someone he truly loves
This year
I haven’t asked for much
Just a sip of wine, and
An interesting book by
The fireplace
A moment to escape into
Fiction as I relax
A moment to be
Stress-free
I say this year but what I mean is
Could this be a wish for
Every. Single. Year?

Sarah Stein Poem
To soothe the soul
To vent
A release
An escape
To share my words
To create stories
Learning myself
And the characters I build
I write because
Its who I am
A writer
A worldbuilder
A character creator
An author
