Lacrosse Ball

Taken from an oak tree
Carved into a perfect circle
The first time ever thrown into the air
Caught, Cradled, Dropped
Scooped, Cradled, Passed, Caught, Dropped,
Scooped, Dropped
Scooped, Passed, Caught, Shot

An arrow pierces me
My fur stuffed into a spherical pelt of my skin
Stitched up and continuing flying through the air
Closer to my target
Past his stick, his head...

Tapped and harvested from the trees
My white goo solidified into a rounder shape
The final product
Soaring, coasting? gliding?
Just missing the orange metal pole
Flying into the woods
The voices fading away
Hitting the ground of the woods
Sitting, waiting to be scooped again

I am lost
Forever

Unbeatable

They are so good
Unbeatable
Some may even say
Unstoppable
The L.A. Kings
Unbeatable
We’re up by 2?
Yay
Maybe they are beatable
O, wait
Now,
D

By 4!

Unbeatable
Invincible, Incredible, Impeccable
Quick with the glove save
Doughty with a goal
So I’ll say it
one more god forsaken time
Un-beat-a-ble

Why

Why am I writing this sonnet for class?
On a beautiful day, like today is,
But I must, so I’ll make it very crass
This is, sadly enough, like a pop quiz.

Usually I’d be watching some Netflix,
So why, Mrs Steinberg, why make me write?
You make me swear it upon River Styx
Each word written takes up a gigabyte

I’ve used allusion and apostrophe
To enhance my beautiful sonnet here
I’ll even try using hyperbole
This pain I can only barely endear

But wait! This line here means we are almost done
Goodbye, I leave the lime light now, have fun.

Ups and Downs

At the beginning it is slow
Speeding up
Like the fastest fighter jet ever
Faster
Faster
Screaming
Twisting Turning
Flying Soaring
Endless ups and downs
Anticipation of an end
Finally the ends has come
Why don’t we give it another go

Ode To the San Jose Sharks

Why do I love this awesome team
A logo is a start
What cooler than a fighting shark
The black, orange, blue, and white

The players are something to like
“It’s Thornton for the goal!!”
Assists from Marleu to Pavelski
Always ignite the light

The chilly rink is exceptional
The giant shark on ice
The players start by skating through
His mouth about to bite

No let’s be real -
You’re totally choke
Can never pull through
10 years to the playoffs
But no win
Here’s shark anatomy 101
Sharks just cannot
fly
Yet sadly to say
No matter what
You’re guaranteed to try

To win a cup would be the best
I’d laugh to Peters face
Although he says we’ll never win
I know the shark will fight

When we grow wings you will lose yours
The red will be the blood
It stains the ice but we still fly
For the fans the best sight

I always knew that you could win
I never gave up hope
You worked so hard for this moment
And achieved your own right

The Sharks have Evolved

Stuck

Enjoyed by none
The battle that can’t be won
Cars and cars galore

Green, Yellow, Red
I’d rather be dead
Than the pain I must endure

Waiting and Waiting
The humiliation degrading
Just listening to news about war

But now I’m in front
And with a foolish little grunt
The process begins once more
