#MyLifeMatters
My hands are up don't shoot!!
I'm a black man, with feelings and a valued life,
Please, I've done nothing wrong, point the gun the other way.
At my home, it holds the love of my valued wife,
There's no kids, but we talk of having children one day.
Is my tail light busted, was I speeding too fast?
If so I apologize, may not have been paying attention.
So what made you suspicious sir of me through the dash?
Tell me now, in the future I can maybe prevent it.
Don't want to be a statistic, I will soon be forgotten
After my brief CNN mention of me being shot.
Of me being SHOT, dash cam flashing non stop when
The masses see another man dead by the hands of a cop.
My hands are up DON'T SHOOT I didn't kill 9 members
Of a church, I don't even have a weapon to cause hurt.
My hands are up DON'T SHOOT I'm 3 credits away from my degree
Check my I.D. no history of batteries or felonies.

One Pill Away From Away
Depressed...
If this poem could
be that one word it would.
I suffered from wanting to be
and not wanted to be with she,
that beautiful woman whom
I proposed to on one knee
that was supposed to be
my wife.
Daughters...three,
I knew in the beginning
that accepting her I
would have to accept
who she became to be.
So after many many years of us
I just wanted to be free
From our 2 and a half year
Relation - Friendship - Dating
Sometimey - complicated
What the hell is going on with us!?
I, love my music but I,
Love my woman but she,
Doesn't love hip hop and I,
Can't lose my friends and she,
Could care less about the personal
passions I pursue paving the way
patiently day in and out making
things happen from my 9 to 5 pay
plus planning days with her
missing events feeling as if I'm
in a pull and pull situationship.
Depressed...
If this poem could
be that one word it would.
I knew one sleeping pill wouldn't be
enough, so I tried three. I just
wanted to be away from this
reality. Actually, mixing the pills
with wine left me buzzed and
afraid. I was becoming that guy who
I said I would never be. A now half empty
glass of wine and I popped 6 more, and
maybe a half bottle of Nyquil would help
me rest. I now laid in my tub preparing for
my watery death. But there was no last
breath. Somehow I woke up and walked
slowly to by bed,
and slept, and dreamed, and wept.
Depressed...
...and now I look back and I'm disgusted with my
selfish self, but that situationship I had long left
once everything went left. I'm thankful for being
here and for the piece of mind that I have left.
I was one pill away.....from away.

Like a kiss of endearment, soft with no blemish
Writing can be my deliverance or escape from my reality’s
Imprisonment battling sprits that have issues with personality
And writing actually is to me a piece of mind at peace

Into you

We can't share this gift apart from each other
Close at heart like sister and brother
Discovering art every time we connect

She makes me feel a new
Every since our first date night
All our moments are just right
We are the perfect combo, us two
I am confident our future's bright
I love holding her close
She adores touching my soul
True love does not have a price
When I plant kisses on her nose
She leans on my shoulder, smiles
For her affection I'd travel miles
There's no other place that I'd go
Haven't had this feeling in a while

Butterflies
I seen her
I smiled
Our eyes talked
We shook hands
We got acquainted
Shared words over tea
We parted ways
Time passed
She was on my mind
I thought of her
Everyday
In 60 days and 59 nights
I revisited
The tea shop
I saw her sitting
Reading the paper
She was beautiful
My heart fluttered
My eyes teared up
She looked up
She smiled
I smiled
I then approached her
She said to me
"I didn't wait for you
I waited for love
And I found you."
She stood up
I held her close
I kissed her cheek
The rest is my life.
