I Knew You Once

I knew you once Long ago And I see how people change You were kind then The best kind of friend But I guess that's all gone away Because now, when I see you You pretend I'm not there You talk to everyone but me We used to be close How was that lost When you gained popularity?

The Boar of Dumm - a Jabberwocky Parody

'Twas later in the afternoon

When the work of the day was done:

Many sat waiting for the moon,

Idly twiddling their thumbs.

'Beware the Boar of Dumm, my son!

The eyes that dull, the yawns that tire,

Beware the slowing steps, do run

Or to great things, you'll not aspire.'

He took his hardy tome in hand:

His father's words he did then heed --

So climbed he up into a tree,

There he began to read.

And there the hours sped quickly past

'Till the last light of day did fade

And when he closed his book at last

A discovery was made!

The Boar of Dumm! Beneath the tree!

Unable to reach him, it fell

Onto its side, and there it died,

And thus lifted the spell.

'And hast thou beat the Boar of Dumm?

Oh tell me, for it must be true!

For the ones it takes are many,

Those who defeat it, few.'

'Twas later in the afternoon

When the work of the day was done:

The shouts of joy did ring out soon,

For o'er the Boar he had won.

Not Just Stories

I've sailed across the ocean
Seen Carthya march to war
I've battled against Kronos
Heard Oliver ask for more

I was Receiver of Memory
The Speaker for the Dead
I've been Ender's Shadow
Heard the Whisperer in my head

I've found a world inside a wardrobe
Borne the Burden all alone
I've fallen into Tartarus
Been orphaned without a home

You may call them fantasy
A fable, myth, or tale
And though it ends eventually
For a little time it's real

I Saw Something In Your Eye

I saw something in your eye

That is not there anymore

What did they do to you, My child?

What is that sad look for?

You were so full of hope and light

Is that strength now gone?

Let Me give you life again,

Or they'll have already won.

Bring back your joyful smile

Lift up your weary head

You are special to Me,

No matter what they said.

Their words are meaningless,

Their lies will never be true,

They look only at the outside,

But I am looking inside, child, and I see the real you.

The Day Was Dark

The day was dark
The fires cold
No shred of joy
Could e're be found

No song of lark
Nor tales of old
Not a single
Cheerful sound

A sudden cry
Stricken, grieving,
Sharply pierced
The misty air

Then in reply
Sick with feeling
More voices wail
Songs of despair

The sound heightened
'Till all did hear
Mournfully ringing
O'er creek and hill

None could lighten
The hopeless fear
War was coming
The day darkened still

Abandon

Leave it all behind you
As you dash away
Don't look back
As you make your escape
The wind whips around you
Your worries try to hold you down
But you keep running faster
'Till your feet lift off the ground
And you fly
High above the ocean
Way beyond the stars
A place where fear melts away
A place where dreams are

The Poem of a Poem

Can a poem be about a poem?
Many people don't think so-um.
Does poem rhyme with poem?
Experts would say no-um.
So is this poem a real poem?
I guess we'll never know-um.

Writing - Understand

Why don't you
Realize how hard
I am
Trying to put
Into words what can
Never be
Grasped?

The Road Ahead

The road ahead stretches on,

The past far behind.

The future will hold difficulties,

Mountains left to climb,

But with the hardships come the joys

Not everything is pain

For eventually the sun will show,

Making rainbows in the rain.

Writing - Try Again

Words don't satisfy me, so I
Redo it, but the story
Is still not shown
The way I see it
In my head. Will I
Never be able to
Give you the correct picture?
