Sogno Agitato (Nightmare)

As it enraptures me

Suddenly there is a light,
Something ahead,
I run faster,
Faster, faster, faster!

Finally I reach the light
Only to discover
That I have landed in a dark cathedral
Filled with the faint light of candles

Why am I here?
I spin around, around, around
Looking for a hint of recognition,
Only to find ghostlike faces,
Wrapped up in hoods the color of night,
Watching me with a wary eye

There! There, I see,
I understand it now,
She lies there in the coffin,
Pale and stiff,
Cold, devoid of her beauty

My heart screams,
My soul cries for mercy,
My mouth is frozen,
Unable to utter any sound

I turn again,
Running, running, running
Out of this place,
And into the undefined beyond

I pause momentarily,
See churning water beneath me,
I hear my heart beat,
Ready to burst out of my body

I am ready now,
Ready to escape,
I take the plunge,
Falling, falling, falling

My eyes flutter open,
A look of fear on my face,
Until I realize
That was just a nightmare.

Watch the World Turn

The world turns,
Changing every second,
With every whisper of the wind
Every movement of the sea,
Every song of the birds,
All the earth is in motion

Look at your surroundings
And see the change incarnate

Watch as spring first begins –
The flowers in their bloom
The trees all green and glorious
The sky a crystal clear,
All the world seems light and weightless
We see nature and smile at its beauty

Watch as spring bursts into summer –
The sun shining brighter,
The air feeling warmer,
The heat healing the earth,
All the world is free and cheerful
We feel fresh, vivacious and content

Watch as summer rolls into autumn –
The leaves turning all shades of orange
Nature taking on a deeper hue,
The cool starting to finally sink in,
All the world begins, school, work, and play
We adjust to a new routine

Watch as autumn fades into winter –
The air getting crisper,
The days becoming shorter,
Glittering snow falling softly to the earth,
All the world is comfortable and cozy
We settle down to warm by the fire

Look at your surroundings,
And see the change incarnate
With every breath you take,
Watch the world turn.

Their Favorite Place

The wooden park bench
Was their favorite place
The trees and the grass
Ceaseless beauty and grace

The wooden park bench
Brought them smiles and warmth
The glistening sun
And the puffy white clouds

The wooden park bench
Showed them each other
Her pretty sun dress
His handsome white shirt

The wooden park bench
Brightened their days
His charming stories
Her gushing laughter

The wooden park bench
Lifted their spirits
Floating in the sky
Holding on to each other

The wooden park bench
Was their every desire
Their arms intertwined
Their lips locked forever.
