Spring Cleaning

Spring Cleaning

Springtime is a chance to start your life anew,
Dust off your pride and change your attitude.
Bring forth the hidden treasures, of your heart,
Don’t worry about the past that tore you apart.
Let the fresh air cleanse your soul, body and mind,
Release the inhibitions that have kept you blind.
Love yourself, for who you are and what you can do,
Never worry about what others think, it all about you.
Embrace the earth elements and the comfort they bring,
Sit back, relax, and enjoy the results, of your spring cleaning.

What Is Life

What is Life

Life is a gift, with many ups and downs,
Its mysteries and wonders keeps’ us spellbound;
It takes us on adventures, that were not planned,
It has twists and turns, that we’ll never understand;

Life never stops, no matter the time or season,
Its existence is evolutionary, like the “Garden of Eden.”
It is a story book, pages full of complexities,
It baffles our minds, and exposes our insecurities

What is life? It’s beauty, change, imagination, too,
An everlasting rollercoaster ride, experienced by me and you!

Poetry Soup

Poetry Soup

It's imagery, movement, rhythm, and rhyme,
Composition of words that baffles the mind;
Art woven meticulously, lines by design,
Pleasing the senses soothes like fine wine.

It's calmness, excitement, free flowing words,
With qualifying beauty like the Peacock bird;
Musical interludes that rises and fall,
Like the waves against an ocean wall.

It’s a hodgepodge of homemade colloquialism,
That challenges our thoughts through aerobic athleticism;
On occasion, darkness sprinkles the pages,
Spoon fed mixture absorbed in small stages.

Poetry Soup, food for the soul,
A deliverance of warmth through written scrolls!

Life In a Perfect World

Life in a Perfect World

In a Perfect world negativity, would be null and void,
With Humans living in harmony, all on one accord!
No labels placed nor disrespect, or need for vanity,
Love would be free flowing, through all humanity!

In a perfect world there would be, no vast poverty,
Or lack of food and clothing, or dis-placed families!
Opportunities would be equal, regardless of one’s sex,
Men and Women working together, no movies rated “X!”

In a perfect world absolutes, would be without dispute,
With optical illusions becoming, segments of visual truths!
All things within our grasp, would be a great sight to see,
In a perfect world we’d all enjoy, life’s limitless possibilities!

Where Do Poets Go

Where Do Poets Go
A tribute to All Poetry Soup Poets of the Past

Where do Poets go, when it’s time to create?
Imagery through thoughts, so that others can relate,
What place can they find, that can offer immense solitude,
When creative juices are flowing, at random magnitudes?

How do they find time, through the hurries of day?
To put things in perspective in a most unusual way.
Why put so much passion, on the pages of each write?
Words of joy and laughter joining those of grim and strife.

These questions may seem trivial, to one without a clue,
So I’ll try my best to answers, from a layman’s point of view.
We Poets, all go to the same place, into the channels of our mind,
To create beauty through written words, for pleasures yours and mine.

Poets are no different, than an artist working on a set,
Perfected lines of color, mirrored image, words of text!
Creativity and imagination, is what it take to find,
The place where Poet’s go, on their quest to design!

Memorial Day Tribute

Memorial Day Tribute

Memories of the Men and Women, who served,
Emotional tributes so well deserved.
Moments of solitude with thoughts preserved,
Outpours of love so vividly observed.
Revolutions of dangers you so bravely swerved,
Inhibitions and fears suppressed and reserved.
Always ready to protect, even the undeserved,
Loyal to a fault, with energy conserved.

Dedication and valor are the pins you ware,
Attributes of service, loyalty beyond compare.
Your selfless acts of duty, always remembered through prayer!

Barn Yard Dog

Barn Yard Dog

I am a Border Collie, recognized for my agility and speed,
I’m also a hard worker, one of the most intelligent breeds,
I’ve worked hard all my life, with eyes fixed on the group,
Not only at round up time, but while resting on the stoop.
My job “back in the barnyard” is to keep things under control,
As the farmers move their herds, to the market to be sold.
I was hired as a “working dog” food and shelter is my pay,
The benefits are a family, with who at days end I play.
I wouldn’t trade this lifestyle for anything in the world,
But I do wish I had a companion, preferably a girl!

An Excuse Never Walks Alone

An Excuse Never Walks Alone

An excuse never walks alone,
Always’ followed by a reason.
An attempt to defend or justify,
Matters not, the time or season!

An excuse never walks alone,
A pregnant pause dwells near.
A quick release of energy,
Fear ringing still in the ears!

An excuse never walks alone,
Aided by a subordinate clause!
After brief thought we realize,
The excuse was a lost cause!

The Family Tree

The Family Tree

The Family Tree has arm, that stretch out far and wide,
From each arm stems a legacy, which can never be denied,
Also affixed, are veined leaves, with DNA inside!

Tab labels index the status, of ones’ lineage,
Relationships, births and deaths, all captured in the images,
With heredity from Mom and Dad, adding to the percentages!

The trunk supports the body, of the Family Tree,
Its’ strong base houses layers, each one with its own beauty,
A pillar of strength on display, a sight for all to see!

There’s knowledge, skills and wisdom, deep inside its roots,
Nourished by culture and history, of it ancestral fruits,
And at the top of the Family Tree, sits the Patriarch all astute!

My Uncle - My Best Friend

My Uncle - My Best Friend

Memories of a Man to whom I could confide,
You were always there to listen, never pushing me aside,
Understanding and kind, always a smile on your face,
Never a cross word, just a saving grace,
Cool, calm, and collected,
Looking dapper as can be, the
Epitome of a Man, I hoped God would send to Me.
