A Kiss On the Forehead

I went from being his angel to his disappointment.
Being me and having fun has broken his heart.
There's so much tension in the air, it's hard to breathe.
The silence is cracking the glass and it's about to shatter.
I feel like an outcast in my own house.
But suddenly the tension starts to clear the air.
A kiss on the forehead awakes me from sleep.
I watch and wonder as he quickly exits my room.
Forgiveness has finally filled the cracks in the glass.
As he realizes I am just like he was when he was younger.

Real Or Imitation?

Like a picture in a frame he’s trapped in his own ways.
More stubborn than a mouse after cheese, even if it’s in a trap.
He spends all his money on his fixation like a child in a toy store.
The smell of smoke soaks to his clothes like water to a sponge.
As forgetful as an elderly person who is senile at times.
With love in one hand and negligence in the other.
His anger can strike fast like a cobra with no sign.
He disappoints me more than he angers me.
I always forgive him for his flaws and he makes it up to me.
Sometimes he makes me feel like an obligation and others extraordinary.
I want more than I’m getting but maybe I’m asking too much.
Or maybe what I thought was real is covered by imitation.

By Dawn

By dawn it will all start to disappear.
By dawn all the wonders of the night will vanish before our eyes.
By dawn the skies brilliant blue will disperse slowly.
By dawn the darkness that kept us close will be swept away by light.
By dawn the twinkle in your eyes will run away like the stars.
By dawn the feeling of our arms around each other will loosen then be gone.
By dawn this will all be a memory.
By dawn the moon will still be visible just like our love.
But by dawn we’ll both realize it was just a dream.
