My Only Star

Gazing up at the inky sky
The mysteries it seeks to hide
I search for my only Star
A brilliance amidst lesser lights

Convey this knowledge, a simple truth
A beacon strives, strides and rides
Through the darkest tunnel
The call to life

Something shapeless, formless, imagined
So tangible, so visible so realized
Felling barriers, times and dimensions
Present, incarnated breath infused

Wing my thoughts, my dreams, my sighs
Yonder the abyss, the chasm of guise
Oh but only to bridge, to reach, to submerge
This song, a crescendo, convulsing me asunder.

A Delicate Drape

The day after you were delivered
As you lay all pink & bundled
Warm in the Cradle of my arms
Self congratulating, smug, I lay

In wonder, Watching that naughty Golden light
Flitting and brushing, the lightest touch
O'er curled strands, Oh so delicate
Brown trailing to invisible light

Tender curved, my breath, I held
lest they rearrange, disturb your tryst with angels
A small tuft, the frailest of cluster
So well draped, so finely drawn

O'er the most perfect creation, God ever made
Huge brown pools of love
Beginning to stir, tiny sparks alight
A fleeting glint, at the brim of a new life

Few more days, I watched mesmerized
The whisper of brown, more strongly etched
Now a darker brown, trailing to light
Yet stubborn they continue to hide

The early relam of our first sweet memories
A simple truth never can be denied
Nestled together, awakening in the mirror of our soul
The strength of this bond, that you are mine, you are mine.

Rain

DORMANT DREAMS, INTENSE - THEIR YEARNINGS

The night has erupted
in a thunderous bedlam.
As it comes crashing,
an unrelenting downpour,
volcanic its intensity,
lashing out its love—or
Is it lovelorn fury—
in sheets of slanting rain

It’s a crescendo of downpour
set to the highest octave,
a few million raindrops
conspire and converge--
the buzz of a mutiny stirs
A wild hornet-nest
driven noise, louder and louder.

The rain, as it comes harder,
pulverising dormant earth—
red is the color of rivulets
rolling down hills and mountains,
crashing demonic avalanches
into crimson streams and ochre rivers.

My heartbeats ricochet still,
the thunderous clap
lighting my fearlessness--
my bold ventures--
flashes of sodium vapours
highlighted in raindrops,
the rain, and if it weren’t for this
unrelenting driving rain, striving

To capture an exploding star,
scaring dark pupils, dilated
my eyes sparkle, fire now ignited
I'm in my element, on a roll,
The rolling clap of thunder
Streaking rivulets - desire molten

My soul thirsted, finally now,
I hear it trashing by my pillows,
intense is their struggle
to breakthrough my dreams
In torrents, giant sky rivers
like high pressure hoses
 descending fast, intense freefall
accelerated escaping gravity's trap

Wet is my hair, unrestrained,
flowing out of the windows
to run a winding dark river
down to the dormant earth
mingling with ground bloated
soaking it all in, quenched
face turned skywards, upwards
Finally the promises delivered.
Here, now in this driven rain

The midnight sky though
far above this indigo chaos
is painted a pink and mauve.
It billows higher and further
into unrestrained ethereal space
rising above this madness
riding a stillness, a heartbeat
In the eye of the storm.

Down below, in my dream,
my reclining body floats
awakening from dormancy
swamped in diaphanous light
my thoughts seeking the clouds.
Dreams within dreams awakened
reveling in soul's new found quest
to be whipped up in a frenzy
to breach this silver harness

And just as I begin to luxuriate
in its molten white volumes
of thoughts in unstated express
to merge myself into non-existence
I hear the acceleration of time & space
the wind stirring, beckoning, conjuring
pushing my buccaneering nimbus cloud
thundering over another's dreams

Saqi Poem Series: Collecting Stars

Saqi
I yearn
To pluck these stars
Out of their distant stupor
To hurl them
And watch them explode
In the immeasurable
Distance
I yearn
To thunder
My intentions
to rip down
mountainous curtains
I yearn
To make
Curvaceous inroads
And watch the
Majestic peaks
Bend to kiss the valleys
I yearn
To stride across
Universes and
dimensions
And bend destiny
To merge
My reality
in your presence
Saqi I warn you
Tonight I am restless
And I will not be accountable
For all that I profess
Through my drunk verses
And
For tomorrow's consequences
