A Poverty of Activities

No meaningful activities.
Not now, not for years.
Many people I see totally bored.
Filling time, wasting time.

   I read good books.
I like my friends and doing anything together.
I will do some things boring.
But I see a paucity of good activities.

So I’m patient.
I will find activity.
We all must.
Entertainers, TV, please help (more).

People will flock to the better entertainment.
Please not for lots of money.
I will thank God for improved activities,
And so will my retired parents.

In memory of my uncle Donald
Who had boredom.

My Car and Friends

With more friends more problems.
My friends are poor and needy,
   With no family or car.
A ride would be so helpful
But I must say, “no,” sometimes.
The world seems so full of needs.

Do Not Make Me Poor

Number one.
Ambition- to acquire lots of money.
From childhood then education, to jobs, to progression.
Always more money.
To earn and to spend.
To buy justice, health, and nice things, some big nice things.
A life for money. Primarily.

Who to date? Who to marry?
How to raise your children?
College costs?
How to spend time?
For money.

The poor have strong needs, and worry.
There can be suffering for want.
But I have enough money! Thank God.
I am not “poor.”

What To Do This Weekend

Again, you ask, “What can we do?”
“Let’s go somewhere by car.”
Spend great money for entertainment.
It’s a struggle to please you.
     I’d rather be alone sometimes.

I like great books.
Religion.
Cooking.
Intelligent ideas.
     However, nothing-to-do creeps in.

How many friends can I serve?
“What activities do you-all like?”
Do weekends bore you too?
It seems we all need better “things-to-do.”
The world is not so entertaining.

I take solitude.
I had to take a nap.
TV has been a bore.
I am refusing to just fill time.
I ask for a little more.

Heaven To Me

Here, look at life,
It’s full of strife.
I am quite genial,
But my work is menial.

Money everywhere and all
But I am poor and small.
Heaven will open a door,
Justice for the many poor.

It’s an age again of nihilism.
Affirm Heaven and believe—
There is a balance sheet.
Life has purpose—don’t cheat.

The Self Delusion Resolved

I am not extremely important.
I am not powerful.
I have only minor influence.
I am a small person.

I thought I was omnipotent.
I defer to my leader,
To my country and to God.
I give my ounce of influence
To Lester Holt, journalist, NBC News.
This is my resolve.
Thank you for reading what I write.

A Try, a Casual Poem

Pissed. Don't mess with me.
Petty, irritable, losing.
I don't like this.
Sting.

Diagnosis: Hot

“Hot” means “very angry.”
Not just the obvious anger.
The type of thoughts you’re having,
   Fighting. Opposing.
   Not taking anything from anybody.
Choice of words,
   Cussing.
Too hot to
Talk, keep a job, make friends?
Is the diagnosis “Hot?”
   Would you know?

Low Activity Life

Sitting. Quiet. Alone.
Distractions pass through.
Waiting. Nothing to do.
Watching the clock.
Two hours.
