Walk In the Woods

As I enter the woods for a walk on a path walked by many
I see that the trees create an overhead canopy
With small streak of light filtering through the canopy
Squirrels scampering up and down the trees
Birds chirping and singing in perfect harmony
Toads blending into their surrounding
Frogs croaking on lily pads in the nearby pond
Balsam trees giving off their fresh scent of pine
My eyes can't believe the beautiful sights and sounds heard as I leave
Thinking what a wonderful walk in the woods I had

The Rainbow

The Rainbow

The sun is shining not a cloud in the sky
All of sudden a rain shower is coming down
All the while the sun is shining
OH! look there's a Rainbow in its entire splendor
Vibrant colors of pink, orange, blue, yellow, green and purple
I wonder if it true that pot-of-gold is at the end of it
If so has someone truly found it?
The rain has stopped and it's slowly fading away
I know that I found my pot-of gold
In the splendor of the Rainbow.

Merry Month of May

April showers bring May flowers
Hear ye, hear ye May is hear
Bare trees are fully dressed
The grass is a luscious carpet of green
Bushes are green with flowers of white and yellow
Buttercups are in full bloom
Tulips in color of red ,pink, and lavender
Their heads swaying in the gentle spring breeze
At last MERRY MONTH OF MAY is here!
Days will be bright and happy
Summer is lurking around the corner

Lou the Baseball Guy

Hi, my name is Jerry
My close friend Lou passed away this week
He was a very avid and knowledgeable baseball guy
People were amazed when they talked baseball with Lou
He knew all about the players their stats, their strengths and weakness
He taught the fundamentals of the game when coaching all ages of kids
He had the a special talent that he could spot a kid with a special trait for baseball
Lou always had positive encouragement for his players
And you could see him give them a pat on the back for their performance
Lou saw one of his dreams come true that was a summer college league
He was a scout for Detroit Tigers and loved every minute of it
I scouting he would scope out the cream of the crop
He loved his family in his special was and was a man of few words
He helped his children to be the best
Big guy, you are now in your field of dreams
I have a request that you hit one over the moon for old Q-Ball
I will miss you and remember all the good times we had

Magic Carpet Ride

As we hop on the magic carpet
Off we go to parts unknown
Look there's elephants, giraffes, lions and tigers in stride
                         We are in Africa
Off to Venice where the gondolas are floating down the canals
Next on our list is the great Pyramids of Egypt
On the banks of the River Yamuna
Stands the beautiful stately Taj Mahal
We are heading for the spectacular view of the Grand Canyon
Before we head home one more stop
It is the magnificent Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco
Now that our adventure has ended we roll-up the magic carpet
And put it away for another day of adventure

My Creed

When a new day starts
I recite MY CREED
I am a SURVIVOR
I am a FIGHTER
I am PROUD OF WHO I AM
SELF CONFIDENCE is there too
Now I can conquer the challenges of the day
At the end of the day with my head held high
I can say what a great day it was

Uninvited Companion

A companion is defined as a close friend
Well I have an uninvited companion
You cannot see it-- It is invisible to the eye
Yet reeks havoc in my life
My life is not the same as it was-- never will be
This uninvited companion is Cancer
It made my life hell on earth
It kept putting obstacles in my way
It took me down to my knees
But I picked up myself up by my boot straps
And continued to fight with all my might I had in me
It will not rule or run my life
I will give it a swift kick into the darkness behind me
Is that light I see at the end of the tunnel
As I emerged from that tunnel I raise my flag in victory
The flag tells the whole world that I am a survivor
I know my uninvited companion will always be lurking
And trying to find ways to raise its ugly head
If I have anything to say
It will stay in the darkness of death
I AM ruler and survivor of MY LIFE

Spring

As the sun is shining
I stand in amazement
That SPRING is here
The birds are chirping
And busily making their new home
Trees and bushes are budding out
Flowers are showing their heads
Soon array of color will be seen
The earth is awakening to a new life
AAH SPRING is here to stay

In My Quiet Spot

As I slide back into my chair
Then I drift off into My Quiet Spot
                                    Majestic Purple Mountains
                                    Staggering on the horizon
As the perfect sunset is setting
                                    Beyond the horizon
                                    In My Quiet Spot
                                    As the evening approaches
                                    Everything gets serene
                                    In My Quiet Stop
                                    When dawn breaks
                                    A beautiful sunrise
                                    Breaks into a new day
                                    In My Quiet Spot
A faint smell of Jasmine fills the air
As the sun warms my face
                                    With a gentle breeze blowing
Thru my hair In My Quiet Spot
The sand on the beach glistens in the sun
As the water lazily laps the shore
                                    In My Quiet Spot
When the hustle and bustle of the day
                                    Gets you down and tired
                                    Just remember the things
                                    In My Quiet Spot

Grateful

Today I feel a little down
I have no reason for feeling this way
To get out of the doldrums
I remember the things that I am grateful for
Grateful to see daybreak of another day
Grateful for the beautiful flowers and the song of the birds
And the fresh air that fill my lungs
Grateful to live a life to the fullness
Grateful for the family I have
Grateful for my grandchildren
Just talking to them and seeing them make my day
Grateful for the best friends I have
They give me support and close friendship
Most of all I'm grateful for the unconditional love of God
He is the cornerstone of Gratefulness
