Know Me

Know Me

You only know me by what you see,
You are so distracted by my outer appearance that you cannot see me
We cannot believe what is seen by the naked eye to be true
We cannot afford to be deceived and fooled into thinking
Persecution leads to frustration, frustration caused by accusation
What will live in our hearts? Condemnation
We are more than curvaceous hips, luxurious lips, and beautiful bright eyes
Thick legs, long eye lashes and of course, those thighs
We are more than French nail tips, and high-heeled shoes
We are more than just hair, makeup, or weave
We are more than one can consume
We are women, a rare breed in deed
Carmel complexion, light skinned or dark
Cleaver, brilliant, vivacious women
Yes, we are actually smart
Associates degrees, bachelors, masters and more
We are business and homeowners owners and
We do collective bargaining on school boards
We are mothers, sisters, cousins and friends
Volunteers, prayer worriers and tend to act like your kin
We are aunts’ grandmothers and other mothers of those
Don’t have a mother? We stand in the gap for those
We are the connection that keeps the life of love in the hearts of everyone
We are global, spiritual, high-energy individuals, yet we are one
Did you know that everyone has an assignment?
We are a conglomerate of gifts and talents
We can be a source of powerful resource management
God has given us favor, integrity and grace
There’s no reason why we shouldn't be leading in excellence
Prosperity and blessings day to day
We are nurturers, caregivers, educators, and alike
Critical thinkers, pacemakers, trailblazers, we tend to be the light
We are no holds barred
We can do the unthinkable were unstoppable, the inevitable is possible
We are human, we are life, we breathe air, we are Christ like
We are not the weak or the lame
We are not designed to conform to societies games
You do not know me but only what you see
You are so distracted by my outer appearance that you cannot see me

Be

BE

What will you be?
A doctor, lawyer, a teacher or judge
A misfit, con artist or just another street thug
What will you be?
Yes resources unfavorable, experiences you’ve gone through
Misfortunate lives trying to figure out whose you will align to
What will you be?
A business owner, writer or preacher
Street pharmacist or city commissioner
What will you be?
With all of your spirituality, what will you be?
Emotional baggage and poor mental state
The master of poor choices
It’s hard to communicate
How will you get to your destiny?
Will it be the luck of the lottery?
Do you believe in fate?
Many dreams and aspirations can they be fulfilled?
The answer is yes
With determination and God’s will
You can be what God says you ought to be
Strong, vigilant, mighty and brave
Full of strength, wisdom and a force to be reckoned with
Can you say the same?

The Protector

The Protector

The beauty lies beneath the catastrophe, a casualty our life does not have to be

Anger, fear and grudge, taking it out on innocent people, only God can judge

As the smoke wans, as the dust settles, a blanket of hope lays solitaire

beneath the ashes and rubble, there she lay wrapped tight as if she were in a

cocoon

Unharmed and untouched, the blankets protected the young

as if she were in the womb

Legacy

Legacy

By my father’s hands
A legacy was left for me
I won’t disappoint
The inheritance is important to me
Green pastures and many pine trees
The land he labored was for me
The red dirt and gravel roads
He left it all to me
The fields he plowed
Gardens he planted
He did it all for me
By my father’s hands
The house he built was
miraculous to me
Making memories in that house
Is where my thoughts retreat
Hog pens and hen houses
Out houses and peanut groves
Watermelon patches
He worked until the sweat
was upon his brow
Running from one side of the fields
to another
Up and down the country roads
History in the making
Who would have known?
Berry vines and fruit trees
Was exhilarating to me
Fig trees and gladiolas
My mother planted for me
So accomplished with only a
fourth grade education
I’m so proud to be a part of the
lineage and total dedication
By my father’s hands
My father’s hands
His hand, hanging on
to the Lord’s unchanging hand

Beauty

Beauty

We have seen him carry the weight of a hundred men on his back
We have seen him fight wars he couldn’t fight back
Like oxen pulling weight with such physical force,
He is incomprehensible, with the work ethic of an elaborate cohort

He has exerted all his energy from efforts that were uncertain
Everyday living resorts to fighting strongholds wondering if it’s worth it
We do not see him for the accomplishments but for what he has done wrong.

Concentrating on the negative and what could go wrong
No, not me, what I see, is a man, a vision of beauty
Are we intimidated by his looks, his character his color?

Or are we afraid of what he might create between the barriers of different colors?
Look at the heart of man and you shall see that he is gentle and sometimes sad from anguish and grief

Compassionate, full of love, sometimes doesn't recognize what he's worthy of
Wanting to show himself who he really is
So defeated that his gifts remain buried within

Look at the eyes of man
you can tell the tears he has cried trying to deal with his inner man
Men can be beautiful too it’s the softer side it’s hard to get to

Make no mistake when he lets you in
This man will love you over and over again
Hard yet soft, gentle he can be

A man is a man in his own unique
So when you look at a man, remember to look into his eyes
for the questions that answer, who am I?

En Em E

En Em E
The enemy is the end of me by any means necessary. The enemy makes it clear that she is threatened by the anointing that is on me. The wrath of the enemy’s path is violent and nasty. Antagonistic behavior results in opposition coming down fast like the force of gravity.

Friend or foe
Opponent or rival
Adversary
My nemesis
Assailant for hire

Kill the enemy that lies within me? The Lord Jesus Christ is the only one who can save me, me from myself of destructive behavior. My soul is bankrupt from dishonesty and anger. Fleshed out, carnal and mundane, my natural body will not cooperate, I cannot sustain

Friend or foe
Opponent or rival
Adversary
My nemesis
Assailant for hire

The enemy in me
Will not be the end of me
By any means necessary!

Until I See You In Me

Until I See You In Me

The natural eyes cannot see, it’s deeper than your mental capacity
God is asking, “Do you see me?” Looking in the mirror
Me for me I stand there selfishly, ashamed for
God does not mirror me, so perplexed by
the ambush of yesterday’s sorrows
Tears flow in the unsightly
facial appearance that
follow, God is not
moved by the
tears he
sees

But faith in him must concede, He would be proud if I concede
As I stand here looking in the mirror again thinking
About my purpose and mission and what
direction God is taking me in, I ask
the question, “What is IT that
he wants me to see?” He
wants me to see that
there is none
greater
than
he
that
is
in
me

Heaven Is Beautiful

Heaven is Beautiful

I can see the sky’s unlimited power
The clouds take away the pain
The shame, the hurt and sorrow

The things I could not conquer on my own you see
He took them, he’s taking care of me
Don’t fret for I am free

In this place, it is quiet, peaceful and serene
It is solitude, it is beautiful
My soul can rest at ease

In this place, there are no rivals
No war, no enemies to say the least
I find comfort, I was tired

Weary
God did not intend for me to be

My nose is wide open
My mind is free
I hear laughter it consumes me

Happy although I miss you so
God will look after you too
You have so much to live for

Passing the mantle was not easy to do
I had to let go and God knew it too
Embrace the mantle for it is your gift
Divine credentials you were born with

What God has done is remarkable you see
I can’t wait till the day when you will join me
God be the glory until next time

I love you and remember
Let your light so shine

Guardian

Guardian

An angel is what I’ve been called
I’m not perfect but will come if you call
I am human
I make many mistakes
My friends say I’m like no other
I know, cause God makes no mistakes

Lead they follow
Speak and they listen
God sends those who are under HIS submission
Those who will do, take no for an answer
God is continuously using you
When he speaks, you answer

Tedious and trying
Working patience without clamor
Sending you to do the work that is meticulous
But you’ve trusted
Your prayers will not go unanswered
To have a heart like Jesus, one of sacrifice and grace

Operating in the his will, not yours
He will erase
You know who you are
Obedient and kind
You can’t stop now the world
Is awaiting your kind

Out of your feelings and mind?
God will allow it
The cost, your blessing in due time
Committed and caring
Loving heart you give is ripe
