The Children

Innocence in their eyes
And smell of their hair
The wild busy play dates
In this world without care

Small little hands
Itty bitty feet
Beautifully lit face
When the get a treat

The naughty streak
They sometimes have
That devious look
Oops fallen…get salve.

That tiny tear
Streaked down their face
Give boo boo kisses
Then sadness’s replaced.

It’s time for bed
And good night dreams
Soft lullaby
Closing eyes
So quick it seems.

Sleep little one
Get all your rest
Tomorrow comes
Anew full of zest.

My Son

Knowing was instant
All feelings brand new
How shall I do this?
Getting ready for you.

There was no money
And barely food
But I was determined
Never to come un-glued

The months passed by
My glow was seen
Quite the big belly
For me, just a teen.

You came to light
just few hours passed
I saw you my son
Through the mirrored glass.

Things were tough
As you did grow
Even though not ready
Try not to let go.

You came to me
At the age of two
Your spirit so pure
I knew I love you.

Your grew so fast
Into quite the young man
So much defiance
I had on my hands.

At twelve years old
I gave you to your dad
We were always fighting
Sometimes pretty bad.

So many years passed
I heard no word
You so mad at me
I mean super perturbed.

Then one day you came back home
For a little while with loving tone.
You raised yourself
The time you were gone,
You learned how to cook
And play games till dawn.

Now here we are
As mother and son
I’m so glad you forgave
Our fighting is done.

You’re now a daddy
So natural to see
Your loving and kind
Is meant to be.

So proud of you Donny
And pleased I have you
Topping all my parenting
Held your family like glue.

I love you son
You’ve grown to a man
Have a great girl
Which was part of your plan.

Forgive me my child
Sometimes I did stray
Your really so great
As the man you are today.

You and Me

Like a warm gentle breeze
On a bright sunny day,
I’ll sway with you
Not to go astray.

Like a cool wet rain drop
In the warm summers night,
I will stay with you
Until the first dewy light.

Like a lightly visible cloud
In a clear blue sky
I’ll be there near you
With no reason as to why.

Like granules of sand
Through a crystal hour glass
I’ll whisper soft sounds of peace
As the times slowly pass.

Like a comfy soft blanket
On a chilled winter night,
I will hold you so near
Till all feels right.

All these things I do with you
Are what we need to pull us through
Our hopes been dashed
Our dreams been lost
Much pain has past
At such great cost.

The love we found has kept us real
The life we share, like solid steel,
We hold up strong with all our might
And keep so close
No needs for flight.

Finally Home

To look at your eyes,
They’re so big and so brown.
I’d reach forward to pet you,
Ears fall to the ground.

My eyes fill with tears,
As I pull away,
How many years
Have you been caged this way?

How long has it been?
Since you took a swim?
How long did you wait
For a scratch on your chin?

How many nights
Have you slept all alone?
When is the last time
You chewed on a bone?

I’m taking you home
Is all I could think,
I’ll fill you with food,
So much water to drink.

You can play with new friends,
Have a bed of your own.
Even sleep with us all,
Instead of alone.

There will be no more cages,
And bars like a jail,
I will scratch your chin,
Until you wag your tail.

Welcome home sweet one
Please do come on in,
Hey look at our pool,
Let’s go for a swim.

Caged Up

As I sit here alone, I will pray for a home,
Just like my friend before.
We both sat in here, quite filled with such fear,
Hoping no denial once more.
This family came, they gave you a name,
And gently opened the door.
You backed up a bit, in the corner to sit,
So nervous right down to the core.
The sweet little boy, gave you a toy,
That he had bought at the store.
You slowly came out, and looked all about,
At that nice little family of four.
You picked up the toy, from that sweet little boy,
And looked at me once more,
I was so happy for you, you looked so pleased too,
It looks like you settled your score.
As I sit here alone, I will pray for a home,
And one day they’ll walk through that door.

Birthday

Today is my birthday
With so much to do
Where do I start?
Should I hang with the crew?

I’ll do that tomorrow
Or maybe the next
Maybe I’ll send them
A short little text

I should take a quick swim
Or lay out to tan
I’ll do that tomorrow
Then sit by the fan

I could go have some dinner
And pick a great place
I’ll do that tomorrow
And then I’ll say grace

Maybe I’ll go shopping
And buy something nice
I’ll do that tomorrow
Buy something with spice

I’ll think about dancing
With my sweet true love
I’ll do that tomorrow
Dance close as a glove

Today is my birthday
With nothing to do
I’ll sit and watch t.v.
With no one but you.

Poetry

Poetry

Some intense words
Our thoughts sure do make.
The real life tales
There is nothing fake.

Some strokes of a pen
Make musical words
Like a small talking squirrel
Or a beautiful bird.

Feelings pour out
When penning a verse
Some super happy
And others silent curse.

The need these words have
For someone to read,
Like yearning for water
A grow hungry seed.

The things that we feel
Find ways to come out,
And writing the words
Are so strong with no doubt.

Others see words
You wrote out that day,
Thinking how much alike
There life goes this way.

It’s like they new
Right from the start
Telling their story
Every word every part.

When writing all feeling
And every day stuff,
Little hope of discovery
On versing is tough.

Christmas Time

It’s that time we see white fluffy snow

And soon hope to here his ho,ho,ho.

It’s that time of year to put on our coats

And show our excitement for holiday floats.

It’s that time our kid’s look up for his sled

Around the time they should be in bed.

It’s that time of year most faces are rosy

To decorate trees with holiday Posey

It’s that time of year we hopefully hear

Santa Claus sleigh and all his reindeer

Not Much

A family so large, no money to spare
All hand-me-down clothes and so few toys to share
Couldn’t go out to eat or to dance
Couldn’t go out to the movies..no chance.
Finish your plate don’t leave a drop
Eat all your food don’t care if it’s slop
Finding a way to pay for that class
Couldn’t make money, no allowance, no pass
Children would laugh at us from our school
They’d hit from behind, so mean, oh so cruel
A family so large no money to spare
Didn’t have much, didn’t cry, didn’t care
Growing up with so little and nothing to give
So scared that one day wouldn’t know how to live
Life does take over and things fall into place
If you keep on trying with a smile on your face
And now all grown up no money to spare
I’ll give til it hurts I’ll give all I will share.

Mom

Hair so perfect, is not so trite
Gorgeous bodice it fits just right
Cosmetic done without a flaw
Shoes plus jewels to match it all

Kind expressions always shown
Softened heart will not condone
Loving words so gently spoken
Forgiving hands will be unbroken

Tender laugh so full of jolly
Funny jokes all filled with folly
Sometimes sorrow you hide so well
Maybe someday you’ll foretell

What should we give?
It came with tears
The gift to give you
Seeming so clear.

We both know we hardly say
I’ll love you mom every single day.
