Dolphin Dance

Frothy frolic in deepest blue.
Darting, dashing, quicksilver flashing.
Blue shadowed flight.

Aquatic ballet in gentle waves,
pirouettes, twirling, gentle swirling,
Dolphin’s diamond dance.

Diving down beneath dark depths,
dolphin’s speak in ocean’s deep.
Underwater symphonies.

Racing ships through salty spray,
abysmal tides, grey dolphin glides.
Graceful energy serene.

A Wrinkle In Time

Loneliness is: standing on a crowded street corner,
invisible, unheard.
Softer than a rose petal, your tears fall on satin cheeks, unnoticed.
Each tear an interpretation.
Falling, unheeded, liquid sadness.
A ghost in a city filled with life,
destined to walk among the living.

Each step mimics life, bringing you no closer to being.
Like a beacon on a hill, overlooking an ocean of tears, you wait.
Eternity echoes like a heartbeat, filling your ears with hope.
Each moment in time is like forever in a dream.

Endless coffee shops and sidewalk satire,
growing wearing of the chase.
Time catches up, armed with wrinkles and weariness
until one day you look,
and see,
and say,
who am I?

As autumn bows before winter,
youth crumbles before time,
Stamping its foot like a wayward child,
time blinked; its lashes spreading memories across your face.'

"I remember you", it says, scarring your face with experience.
Time unfolds its memories for you to behold.
The lonely path you’ve chosen,
laid bare and vulnerable for all to see.

If only,
I wish,
I should have,
Why did I,
May I go back.

Sapphire Skies

Rainbow bright against dark sky.
Brilliant colors arcing high.
Storm clouds clash with sun’s bright rays,
light is splintered, skies ablaze.
Sapphire skies squeeze drops of rain,
entwine soft, fragile fibers flame.
Colors paint the sky with tears,
whispered raindrops till clouds clear.

Teal blue sky as rainbow fades,
laughing at it’s soft charades.
Chasing colors through the clouds,
as summer rains on fields abound.

Rainbow hides behind dark skies,
waiting for the sun to shine,
it’s rays between and underneath,
fragmented in it’s summer sheath.

Pink Moon Rising

Spring breaks river's icy grip,
rushing, waters, icebergs slip.
Upon the banks sprouts shoots of green,
bursting newborns, grasses glean.

Robin-ready, Earth comes alive,
melting waters, rushing tides.
Earth shrugs off its Winter dress,
and comes alive to wakefulness.

Breathe in, sweet the southern breeze,
finches song, swaying trees.
Cardinals red on melting white,
songbirds sing the lambs' goodnight.

Vermillion shades of roses bloom,
budding under new Pink Moon.
Milk-splashed calves dash for the fields
as velvet lips touch Springtime yield.

Birth of a Flower

Gently grows the flower.
Seeking petal perfection on
the wings of a seed.
Mating with the earth
in dark richness,
germinating transcendence.

Evolution bursts free,
spiraling ever upwards
to greet a bright reality.
Unfolding newborns,
velvet in their sheaths of green.

Begging the sky, they drink.
Perfect petals push their way
to efflorescence, lifting satin
faces to the sun in reverence.
Butterflies behold, as blossom

unfolds it’s glory for all to see.
The flower is born and Earth
weeps it’s blessings.
Gently grows the flower.

Delicate

As she grows, a spirit wild.
The beauty of an untamed child.
A heart betrayed,
restrained,
beguiled.
The beauty meets the beast.
Untethered, still, her own free will.
Orphaned to the winter’s chill.
See through,
silk tears,
careful is her capture.
The mask in place. Her mind, her space.
Trades in her heart,
her thoughts, replaced.
Faux smiling,
Expression imprisoned.

Enduring wind blown offerings,
as delicate as angel’s wings.
Making summer out of snow.
Ever longing so to be,
The ruler of her soul.

The Enigma

There is naught I could compare thee with,
no match in mind, creature of foreign land.
Your rhythmic stride, grace comparative,
eccentricity, tree-tops you command.

With lashes long, soft, liquid eyes, light brown,
sky-scraper tall, you view your sun-baked earth.
Silhouette odd against the sky, sundown,
Oh, nature’s tallest giant, spotted girth.

An evolutionary enigma,
precariously you walk in your space,
not a spot out of place or a stigma,
the definition of long-legged grace.

May your numbers never be cut in half.
The Earth will cry if we lose the giraffe.

Mary Grady

The graveyard still stood in the glade by the woods,
casting shadows against the tall pines.
Last words on a stone, standing off all alone,
in a tangle of branches and vines.

“Here lies Mary Grady, not much of a lady,
cut down in her bed as she dreamed.
By a lover who scorned her, when once he adored her,
from a knife to her throat did she bleed.”

Through dark woods he walked, a young woman he stalked,
as she strolled midst the graves unaware.
His heart cruel and depraved for the murder he craved,
he smiled as she knelt down in prayer.

On the grave set apart, hand over her heart,
she wailed in lament on the stone.
At this moment the man, with a knife in his hand,
took control while she knelt all alone.

Her heart leapt in her chest as his knife slashed her breast,
her blood seeping deep ‘neath the stone.
Deep into the space Mary Grady was placed,
and she died with a sigh and a moan.

Deep within, under her, Mary did stir,
to an innocent’s blood, she did rise.
She sought to avenge, crying out for revenge,
and the murderer shrieked his surprise.

Opalescent and dark, she approached the black heart,
her eyes brimming bright with disdain.
Then she chuckled with glee as the man tried to flee,
thinking that he’d gone mad or insane.

As her spirit came near, his heart pounding with fear,
she grabbed him, her ghostly rage fierce.
“Now it’s YOUR turn.” she said, ripping hair from his head,
and his heart, with her hand, she did pierce.

Mary looked down at the man on the ground,
satisfaction at what she had done.
Now her spirit could rest, his heart ripped from his chest,
conquering evil, she’d won.

Rainfall

Rainfall echoes on dark, lonely streets,
my heart falls in rhythm with each watery beat.
In rivulets of sadness, a river is born,
shadows of yesterday lost in the storm

Each puddle, a memory, each trickle, a dream.
A tryst with a lover, an inside out scream.
Perhaps we are destined, intended to be,
Caught in the riptide, carried out to the sea.

Full of intentions and random remorse,
the storm in my heart beats a dangerous course.
Battered and broken, tossed up on the shore,
like flotsam and jetsam, I lay on Earth’s floor.

Mingling with tears, the rain cold on my face,
the darkness within tightens up its embrace.
Each moment of memory, each minute of time,
each scar that’s reopened, plays back in my mind.

If I hadn’t met you on that fateful day,
If you hadn’t told me to come in and stay,
‘If onlys’ are all that I have to explain,
But it’s never enough, as I stand in the rain.

Girl Uncompromised

You touched my face and said goodbye, and looking back you met my eyes. A spark of what, regret perhaps? You left me wondering why.

Who do I owe this heartbreak to? Another girl? Or perhaps, two? “Oh, it’s me, not you,” you lie. Save your metaphors.

My eyes filled up with burning tears, a testament to all the years. I never even had a clue, for all I ever saw was you.

How can a light that burned so bright, turn to darkness overnight? Can fall to pieces on the ground, my broken heart’s in tatters now.

Tattered, shattered, ripped to shreds, a broken thing now halfway dead. You left me gasping for each breath, drowning in this little death.

I rise up from the bed we shared, and look into the bathroom mirror to try and see what’s wrong with me, that you should walk away.

I look into wet eyes so blue and see the me, that you saw, too. My inner self stared back at me, and told a startling truth.

I see there’s nothing wrong with me, no reason why you set me free. No reason that you broke my heart. I’ve been the same, right from the start.

I refuse to play the blaming game, of wondering why you didn’t stay. I’ll live to love another day. My heart is good and strong.

So like a Phoenix I will rise to wipe the teardrops from my eyes, and never will I compromise the person that I am.

For I’ve been faithful all this time, loyal, true and always kind. A gentle soul and thoughtful mind, and I will heal this heart.

So walk away, is what I say. It doesn’t matter anyway. Another love will come my way, and you’ll be soon forgotten.

I’ll put my heartache on a shelf, and live to love despite myself. My head I’ll hold up proud and high. I will remain uncompromised.
