Payton Bessette Poem
They say time heals all wounds
I found this to be untrue
The bruises faded
But the aching made it
Straight to my head
For you I was game
And you needed control
I stood my ground and still said no
How did I let you get too close
Just to wrap your hands around my neck
"You liked it" you said
The pills help me sleep
But I still feel defeat
And my skin crawls and aches
At the though of your teeth
When you smiled and
Laughed as you held me down
I couldn't escape you
Or this town
So I smoke away the pain
I've mastered the straight face
And I drown in my anxious thoughts
You took what you wanted
Your heart is rotted
And I was your prey of the night
It's dark and I'm
Struggling to find some light

White t-shirt, sleepy green eyes
I love the way you look into mine
We've sailed rough waters, but I like storms
I've got my life and you've got yours;
But here we sleep in the same bed
Tangled in the sheets, hearts beating out our chests
Who knows how far we'll go
But our love is on fire and that's all I know.
