A Day Well Spent

We must seize the day is what they say,
We are here but for a moment, here but for a day,

We must awake and not forget to contribute, love and play,
We know that none of us are here to stay,

So go share your love there's no time to lament,
You can then lie down knowing your day was well spent.

Magic Beans

Enchanted magic beans,
They were always enchanted to me.
Worth their weight in gold,
They never ever got old.

Some people would complain,
Some would look at them with disdain,
But magic beans meant the world to me,
They brought me warmth and satiety.

When you were of little means,
Your mind had to spark with creativity.
You could not always expect the next best thing,
Avoiding magic beans like a bee sting.

My mom would bring home our magic beans,
She would then drop them into the swirling seas.
She stirred them in a cauldron boiling hot,
I then waited for my sustenance cooking in the pot.

Today I still gather magic beans,
Even though I am no longer of little means.
The happy memories come flooding back,
As I pour magic beans from their overflowing sack.

Please Stand By Me

Please love me and stand by me
It brings me comfort in times of need
When problems arise and hope slips through my hands
I hope you come closer and take a firm stand

Life will always have its ups and downs
I will not always be happy I will sometimes frown
But as long as you hold me and kiss me with care
The storm clouds will pass the day will be clear

Trials and tribulations will engulf me sometimes
But I can weather the storm with you in my life
When small waves become a tumultuous sea
I know I will make it if you stand by me

The Bully

He likes to praise me, sometimes he can be nice,
Other times he can turn on me, turning cold as ice.
They may not be sticks they may not be stones,
But in this case, words do break bones.

They cut deep valleys within my soul,
They engulf my heart like wretched mold.
Words are his weapons, his weapons of choice,
He loves to launch them like daggers with his voice.

When I think he has gone and I will get some peace,
He comes storming back; the taunting doesn't cease.
Some say just fight the bully and set yourself free,
But it is an endless battle because the bully is me.

Things Should Have Been Different

You showed me you loved me, you showed me you cared,
Touching moments we both did share.
I really wanted you to be so strong,
I always hoped that you would do no wrong.

But then you glanced at me with that evil stare,
Lashing out at me without a care.
Like an executioner, you struck with all of your might,
Trying to expunge all of your failures in life.

I became a thing of ugliness and disgust in your view,
So the thick leather belt became your malevolent tool.
I longed to go back to those tender moments we shared,
But instead I hid in a corner, alone, ashamed and scared.

I now know I did not deserve such days of torment and fear,
Things should have been different, our relationship more dear.
Today I am told I must forgive you and no longer fret,
So now I forgive you, but I can never forget.

The Fall

The darkness of the shadow engulfs the wall,
Now is the time to prepare for the fall.

I've been here before and I'll come here again
When will I learn that I'll never win.

The emptiness builds into a dark void
Time becomes a blur as I am destroyed.

The lies flood my mind and I fall once again,
I play the same game knowing I'll lose in the end.

The Impermanence of Vitality

A man lives and a man dies,
A flame burns and soon flickers out,
And so goes the pattern of vitality.

The Beauty of Darkness

In the beginning, there was light,
Light to make beautiful God’s great creations.
With this light came darkness,
Darkness to shield these great beauties
So they would never be taken for granted.

Death Loves You Just the Same

Did you live a life full of faith,
Or perhaps a life full of sin,

Did your face have a frown,
Or did it always wear a grin,

Was your life full of meaning,
Or at times quite empty,

Did your life have many curves,
Or did things happen quite simply,

Whether life's successes gave you happiness,
Or life's failures caused you to pass the blame,

One thing is certain, death loves you just the same.
