Abide in Me

In anger, I scream at the wall.
In pain, onto my pillow I fall.
I take it out on my bed,
punching, my face turns red.
I grab my razor out of despair,
"nobody will see if I make the cut there."
For a minute, the pain subsides,
I take a breath as red fills the line.
For a brief time, I finally feel fine,
but it's not long until I realize.
Its my own guilt that washes over me,
I made a quick decision, recklessly.
I begin to hit myself in the head,
and throw my body back onto my bed.
I cover my mouth to silence my cries,
my body aches and I await my demise.
"Where are You, God?" I scream,
but it seems like He's not listening.
"Where are You, God?" I cry again.
My voice grows louder and louder,
but seems quiet still in this lonely hour.
I listen amongst the silence for His words,
No answer. I guess this is what I deserve.
He left me completely alone and hollow,
the emptiness is a bitter pill to swallow.
He left me here alone to rot.
Suddenly, a voice responds, "I did not."
I turn my head but I'm still alone.
He speaks again, "Your suffering I only condone,
I am with you through it all though.
When you were in pain, I was your pillow.
When you were angry, I was your wall.
I let you yell and blame me for it all.
I am the skin that you slash.
I am the objects that you thrash.
I am the tissue that wipes your tears.
I am the blanket hiding you from your fears.
I am the bandaid that covers your scar.
I am the light still living in your heart.
I am your comfort and your shield.
I am the hope that you yield.
I am your rock and your fortress.
I am the one that you can trust.
Yet, when times are hard and I see you struggle,
I let you blame me in your time of trouble.
I would never hurt you, I could only ever love you.
If only you could understand, if only you knew.
But, until then, my child, I'll take your anger and any weight,
I'll take the insults and injuries and I'll love you anyway.
If only you could see what I can so clearly,
I hold you, my child, oh so dearly!
If only you knew your beauty and worth,
my child, you have been beloved since birth!
I have called you my friend and my own,
I have promised and kept to not leave you alone.
You are a city not forsaken,
you are my best creation.
So, why do you try so hard to be perfect?
Why do you try so hard to be worth it?
Don't you understand you were made in my image?
Did I not create a beautiful world with you in it?
So, lower your fists and put down your razor.
Fall to your knees and turn to your Maker.
Abide in Me.

Christmas

People filled with a lot of joy,
Kids writing down their favorite toy,
Santa comes as jolly as can be,
Leaving presents under the tree,
But what it's really about is not the toy,
It's about our savior the little boy.
The little boy is the reason,
For this wonderful Christmas season.
People laugh and Carolers sing,
Angels fly and sprout their wings,
People rejoice and sing on this day,
The day he was put in the manger to lay.

Broken Heart

I cried for days,
That boy had his ways,
He said he would be back,
The truth he did lack,
He used to make me feel great,
But now I feel I cant carry my own weight,
He left me here,
He didn't care,
There was never an us,
He left me in the dust,
You! Yes you,
You and me are through,
I'm not saying I wont look back,
How can I forget that?
I wish I didn't remember,
Those times in September,
Everything was great,
There were no debates,
Why you left me I don't know,
It was very low,
Will I forget you? No,
I will try to forget that fight,
That took place in the middle of the night,
Those times I thought everything was perfect,
I didn't realize the affect,
I hope your proud,
You made me scream so loud,
I can't forgive you.

Dad

Every day you go away,
You work and don’t play,
Your smart,
You have a great heart,
Your clever,
And the best dad ever,
You love us,
We can't love you enough,
You are the best dad ever.

Happier Now

I lost her suddenly with no explanation,
she left me alone, in isolation.
Was losing her for better or for worse?
I came out stronger, but maybe its a curse.
Everything is different now that she's gone,
I keep running from my problems, its a marathon.
I avoid it all, bury my emotions deep down,
like water, I'm submerged and going to drown.
Strayed from the world-maker, the creator,
becoming a home-body, becoming a hater.
She was like ice, she got smaller with time.
But I don't miss her anymore, is that a crime?
Loved but lonely, living but lost, my light is the fire.
When I say I'm happier now am I a liar?

Poem For Contest

The Little Match Girl by H.C. Andersen Part Rewritten By Scarlett G. Rollins
Most terribly cold it was; it snowed, and was nearly quite dark, and evening-- the last evening of the year. In this cold and darkness there went along the street a poor little girl, bareheaded, and with naked feet. When she left home she had slippers on, it is true; but what was the good of that? They were very large slippers, which her mother had hitherto worn; so large were they; and the poor little thing lost them as she scuffled away across the street, because of two carriages that rolled by dreadfully fast.//She had a long cloak over her that also had been worn out and ripped. Her feet were getting colder by every step she took. She passed the Burling's home, the richest people in Denver. Their house was big and quite tall too. It was painted a nice white color. She could see smoke coming out of their chimney and longed to be in there. "Hello Ms. How ya doin'" said a man behind her. She was brought back to reality quite quickly. She turned around to look at the man behind her. "Fine I guess. How about you, sir" She replied. The man looked surprised by her manners. Appearance isn't everything. She thought to herself. "Abou' the same here. What's your name little Missy? Mines Albert." He asked her. "My name is Angelina Anderson." He had a look of shock again. She was now starting to get annoyed. "I must get going now." She finished. Angelina turned and walked away. Now eager to get home to tell her mother about this strange man she had met on her way home by the Burling's hom

The Water In My Eyes

The tears I try to hold back,
Succeeding I lack,
They run down my face,
I feel disgraced,
I am really done,
I try to run,
Something stops me,
Is this who I want to be?
The girl that goes running away,
I won't be her not any day,
Not in anyway,
Especially not today.

Mom

You take care of us,
You don't give a fuss,
You work every day,
As the hours go away,
Your nice and pretty,
And you're really witty,
You clean and run your errand,
WOW! You’re a great parent.
You’re the best mom ever!

I Want To Cut Out My Heart

If I cut out my heart will I still feel this pain?
If I rip it out of my chest with my own bare hands?
If I tear it out myself and throw it away?
If I leave it on the floor and never look back?
If I beat it, smash it, crush it and stomp on it?
If I tear it apart and throw the pieces astray?
Will my heart still be able to hurt me then?
I Want to Cut Out My Heart.

Refuse To Sink

My body felt heavy like an anchor,
 gravity was taking over,
As my legs began to give out.
I didn’t even have the strength to carry myself anymore.
But I refuse to fall down,
 to let gravity take over,
to let this ocean drown me.
I refuse to sink.
