You'Re Different

to be seen in the world is no easy task,
one must scream and shout aloud,
what is wrong with me? you ask,
you struggle to separate from the crowd.

divide yourself from the rest you must,
let your true colors appear on your skin,
find a few whom you can place your trust,
ignorant opinions should never sink in.

to accept yourself is a weight lifted off,
solitude does not feel so lonely
no matter how much they mock and scoff,
you are different, the one and only

Nothing

I love her deeper than my lack of affection
Although spoken from my lips, meaningless
Constant mishaps produce my indivisibility
So desperate to be seen yet outside her scope
My heartbeat mistaken for a hummingbird’s wings
Heightened senses yet weakened knees
Like a childhood memory she is engraved in my mind
Her name etched on every passing breath
Another interaction but a lack of substance
Consumed by rejection my fears are assured
Hopeful my glance will catch a glance in reply
Tomorrow she will pass again, and again, I will say nothing.

Lead Me On

I'm convinced my eyelids are
more dense than black holes
Oh Hercules! Oh Samson!
Summon your might that I
might see once again through
the dark and despair of
this world I'm living in
Another morning
another forecast of foggy skies
with no clear vision in sight
Oh Lord! Oh Lord!
Is there life for the blind?
Does the straight and narrow
have a rumble strip?
Surely your mud can heal
the pain of my amaurosis
Yet if not -- bind your
yoke upon my shoulders
Hook your staff around my leg
and lead me through this
dogged penumbra
