Why I Write

why i write

I sit here now and think about today,
Tomorrow and yesterday.
The choices I have made both good and bad,
The one that made me happy and
And the ones that made me sad.

The people I have known and the friends I have made,
Some have left my life and some have stayed.
Some by choice and some by fate,
But all the times we had were oh so great.

The memories I have tucked away in my mind,
Will help me through this difficult time.
For where I am now is not where I want to be,
Moreover, my future is unknown and I cannot see.

However, I will try to be strong and overcome,
This path that that feels so overrun.
With loneliness and heartache and tears,
For I may not have left too many years.

I write my poems to ease and clear my mind,
To leave my thought and feelings behind.
But not to forget or put aside,
All the things I feel inside.

Someday I will make a book
Of the poems that I have took.
From in my heart so deep inside
And share them with the world with pride.

December Day

December day

There are no words that we can say,
About the tragedy that happened on that December day.
When an elementary school came under attack
And all those little lives will never come back.

Our hearts cry out and eyes fill with tears,
For the parents who now have to face their worst fears.
Their child is gone taken away
On that tragic December day.

Innocent children from age’s five to ten,
What could they have possibly done to meet such a tragic end.
And to the teachers whose lives were also lost,
You protected the children and paid the ultimate cost.

Never Said Goodbye

never said goodbye

It’s been seventeen years since you went away
And I didn’t have the chance for goodbyes or to say
That even though we’ll be so far apart
I always have and always will love you with all my heart.

There will never be a mom like you
Who had all the answers and knew what to do
Every time I was sad or blue
I knew I could count on you.

There were times that you made me sad
And times that you made me mad.
But no matter what I would do or say
You would always make sure I was okay.

Now when I think of you sometimes I am happy and sad
And other times I get really mad.
Because of my stubbornness and stupid pride
I was not there before you died.

I live with this day after day
and I wish I could have had the chance to say.
That even though we are so far apart
I have and always will love you with all my heart
I LOVE YOU MOM…

Finish Line

Finish line

(Boston marathon bombing)

The race has begun, runners on their way

People from around the world waited for this day.

They prepared for years to finally have a chance

Some crossed the finish line and did their celebration dance.

There were others who also waited for this day,

They to prepared but not in the same way.

They made their bombs and strategically placed

And before others could finish they finished the race.

Two bombs went off one right after the other

Killing and wounding fathers, mothers, sisters, and brothers.

The first pictures shows a 76-year-old man fall

But the killing of the eight-year-old boy is the saddest of all.

We pray for the families of the wounded and killed

They have holes in their hearts that can never be filled.

The bombers are cowards but we will shine,

Because we will all once again cross that finish line.

In Memory of Sandy Hook Elementary One Year Later

In memory of sandy hook elementary
(One year later)

A year has passed since that tragic day
When a young mans anger gave way,
On innocent children and adults,
He made his way in and started his assault.

Leaving behind fathers and mothers
And lets not forget their sisters and brothers.
They all have dealt with their pain and sorrow
Trying not to live in the past but strive for tomorrow.

Their memory lives on in their hearts and mind
Some have found peace but some will never find.
A way to heal and try to move on
Without their loved ones who to soon were gone.

I do not try to pretend to know how they feel
I wish there was some way to help them heal.
They stay in my thoughts and in my prayers
And I know there are still many of us who still cares.

The Ultimate Cost

The ultimate cost

Three days after his crucifixion at Calvary
A woman went to visit and what did she see.
The bolder was moved and the tomb empty
Jesus died and rose for you and me.

The true meaning has been lost
For the man who paid the ultimate cost.
He died for our sins, then rose from the dead
we should be drinking wine and breaking bread.

We all have our faith and different ways
Of celebrating this man who deserves our praise.
So while you are at church or hunting eggs outdoors
Take a minute to remember the man who gave his life for yours.

Strength

Strength

There comes a time when our strength is put to the test,
And all we can hope for and do is our best.
Then there are those times when we feel we can’t go on,
We become separated and withdrawn.

But then from somewhere deep within,
We slowly pull ourselves up and begin.
To heal and strengthen our mind and heart,
And all of our pain and sorrow starts to depart.

It doesn’t happen overnight or weeks,
And there is no manual or technique.
But with every passing day and night,
We start to overcome and fight.

There will come a day when your heart is at peace,
And all the hurt and sorrow you feel will cease.
Your strength inside will overcome and win,
And your mind and heart will be at peace again.

Memories

memories

Today my mind wanders back to the past
To my first memory and to my last.
Much of my childhood I do not know
Where are the memories, where did they go?

I can see my brother and my dad,
I see my mom and it makes me sad.
I sit here with my mind filled with thoughts,
And my stomach gets all tide up in knots.

The memories I have are both happy and sad,
Some make me laugh and some make me mad.
But are they memories or just stories I have heard,
Has my brain just remembered them word for word?

They all seem real, like they might have been,
And I get this feeling deep within.
I may never know if my memories are real,
But I will always know how moments like this feel..
