Unrequited Affection

When often thinking of times past
In accordance to her own place
She recalled a heart broken young woman
With longing her pain to erase

Guys grow fond of her demeanor
Going so far as to follow her around
Yet without a doubt she controls her heart
And departs them safe and sound

She never strays from her values and ways
From actions she continues to refrain
And when boys spend time in her company
For her, it is merely to entertain

Childish ways once embedded naturally
Inside her innocent mind
Have soon dissipated into the land of dreams
And reality she’s come to find

So many times she’s feared the day
When one young soul she shall meet
He’ll speak foreign truth she’s never heard
And sweep her off her feet

Hesitant to become transparent
She often hid her anticipation
And did so well for the initial encounters
Although with great frustration

No one seemed to understand her like this one
For in such a short amount of time
She questioned what her motives were
As her affection seemed to climb

Attempts to stray from him failed miserably
And in fact seemed to attract her more so
Each departure she vowed was the last
Yet her endearment continued to grow

Left in a quandary
She allows him to speak his peace
She soon understands his wishes for them
Are from each other to release

Now, rational a thinker she may be
She desires his wishes as well
But something leads her to believe
They both know this attempt will fail

She’s scared to read too much into this
In fear that feelings are unrequited
For only God can deem what’s to be true
And who shall be united

So, idly she and her soul await
For sign of returned desire
Yet, until that day she will attempt no more
And to her chambers simply retire

You'Re Late

You're sorry that you're late?
I have been waiting all day,
And now that you've finally shown up
That's all you have to say?

Whenever you wanna hangout with friends
I understand, really I do,
But you always expect me to drop everything
So I can make time for you

Everytime you "forget" to call
There's always some excuse,
Why do I forgive you every time
When I know there's just no use?

Do I not mean anything to you?
Because you sure act like I don't
It seems you know I'll always be there
Well, guess what? Someday I won't

What goes around comes around
I'm just waiting for the day,
Whan you finally say you're sorry
And I have the nerve to say.

I'm sorry that you're late
But I've found somebody new,
I finally just had to give up
I was tired of wating on you

Gone

Hearts hurting, whatever this is ain’t working,
your pride’s always gunna come first and
looks like I'm finally learning

Never once crossing your mind,
my feelings hurting double time,
you forget I can make plenty of others mine,
too bad now you gotta wait in line

Always tellin myself I don’t deserve this,
if you want me now you gotta earn it,
no more pretending together we can fit,
I’m done trying to deal with this

Don’t play dumb, you know you were wrong,
acting like nothing was goin on,
I’ve held onto this anger far too long.
Now Ima throw the deuces, I’m gone.

The Truth

I’ve just learned the truth
Now I’ll never be the same,
I usually don’t point fingers
But this time you’re to blame.

In just a few short words
Coming from your cold heart,
You managed to break my spirit
And tear my world apart.

Lying gets you no where
You just dig yourself a hole,
If you want your life to be based on lies
Then you have accomplished your goal.

Ever heard that old saying
The truth shall set you free?
Well looks like you got what you wanted,
It just set you free from me.

**one

One of these days I'll hear
Someone call out your name
My heart will skip a beat
But the feeling won't be the same

One of these days I'll cry
And fall into a trance
Wondering why you never tried
To gve our love a chance

One of these days you'll wish
You never let me go
And wonder what I'm doing now
Yet, you'll never know

One of these days I'll leave
And you will come to find
I'm no longer here for you
I've left you far behind

One of these days you'll see
All the things you passed by
And how you didn't even consider
Or think of the reasons why

One of these days I know
I'll find somebody new
But I'll always remember
The chance I never had with you

Why

Why do I fall
For everything you say
When I know very well
You won't call the next day

Whay do I go with you
When I know you'll go back to her
I know there's no commitment
But when you ask, I say sure

I have no idea
Why I even pick up the phone
I guess I'm just afraid
Of having to be alone

When will I see the truth
Maybe I already do
But it's hard to remember the lies
When I'm so blind to what you do

I Believed

I believed in you
When no one else would
I never had a doubt
I always knew you could

I believed in us
When no else could see
How true our feelings were
How we were meant to be

I believed in faith
When things started to fall
I believed we'd overcome
I thought we could do it all

I believed I was dreaming
When you said we were through
But I believe what hurt the most
Was I believed in you

Success Without Failure, Isn'T Success

As I sat feeling lost and defeated
Conversing with an old friend
He offered words of encouragement
And this is how he began

My dear, life is far from simple
And it's more difficult the higher you go
For the more you learn, attempt, and obtain
The more hatred people will show

Always give yourself a chance
Don't give up before you begin
It may seem to be a feat in the beginning
But it'll be worth it in the end

Sure, sometimes you will face struggle
And yes, sometimes you'll even fail
However, it's those that stumble and continue on
That will conquer and prevail

Still, once you've reached the top
You're bound to fall and retreat
Yet, the key to obtaining success
It to get back on your feet

So give it an extra effort
Don't hesitate or refrain
Because without some type of loss
There will never be any gain

You Didn'T Say Goodbye

You didn’t even say goodbye
You left me here alone
You figured you could move on
And I'd get better on my own

Well you’re right im doing fine
I no longer need to feel your embrace
I've found that while I'm finding a NEW love
You’re trying to simply replace

I pity your lack of respect
And with time you will as well
You’re traveling down the road to nowhere
And everyone but you can tell

So when you see your reflection
I hope you think of how things used to be
What once was considered love
Is now just your memory.

Tara*graduation*

Words can not explain
What I wish I could say
We've been together since Kindergarten
And seen each other every day

From Barbie Dolls and secret clubs
To gossip and boyfriends
I can't believe our time here's through
And the "real world" soon begins

You're my best friend, hands down
But the good times aren't in the past
Cuz we'll be together next year
College life will be a Blast!
