Leanne Walsh Poem
My dear old cockatoo
You know that I love you.
You with your sulfur crest,
You by far are the best.
Your pure white, soft feathers
Tell me of endeavors
You braved the howling wind
And found your way across
The Pacific ocean.
Your bold and beady eyes
Tell me of your courage
Your role as a leader
Commanding entire flocks
To pass the resistance.
Your curved and beaky beak
Tells me of your troubles
In co-operation
With your friend cockatoos
But you got on with your life.
You conquered what seemed
Impossible
And found your way here.
You've been with me for
The last fifty years.
My dear old cockatoo,
You know I love you.

Leanne Walsh Poem
Bareback riding on a galloping horse
In the dark, using force
To conquer barriers blocking my path
Laughing a completely maniacal laugh.
Wading through the cold, deep waters
That flow from the mountains, Zeus' daughters.
Battling hills and steep slopes
Foolishly high are my hopes.
Dashing through the open plains
Hearing voices calling my name
But I don't listen to them
I can't, I won't give in for a gem.
Gasping through the dry, hot deserts
My breathing as loud as the loudest concerts.
Listening to the music I cause
Still not eaten by my enemy's jaws.
What makes me strong you may ask?
Well, certainly not a simple task.
It's the courage and determination that does it all
Courage and determination not to fall.

Leanne Walsh Poem
Aching is my heart for you
Withering my very soul.
A crack will turn me pale blue
Only you can halt the toll.
Teresa of Calcutta
Empathize for my poor sake.
Why not look at this nutter
Hoping to be yours to take.
After all, I am to blame
Killed of my wonderful good.
All I am is a failed game
Prayers to you under my hood.
Only the faithful are helped
Not because of selfishness
Of sheer gratitude for life.

Leanne Walsh Poem
Warriors are no longer raging,
Women are no longer singing.
Firelight prances inside Seth's eyes,
dancing over Giza he cries:
"Fire! Fire! It will find you all
Even those who refuse to fall,
So even if you escape my deadly chant
Your ashes shall lie where living things aren't.
"If you would try to save the day,
It will be hell you'd have to pay.
I shall breathe my fatal breath
Upon those of you who run from death.
"Your pharaohs shall kneel before me crying
To be set free without you all dying,
But my deserts remain hot as ever
And none can escape - not even the clever.
"Only the faithful to me shall be spared,
So yes, the ones who have never cared.
They'll ball their fists and bare their teeth at Ra!"
"Forever obeying me."

Leanne Walsh Poem
Trauma, but of a different kind
Zero time to say goodbye
Don't waste your breath now, you have none left!
It is too late now, hadn't you guessed?
A secret palace inside my head
No judges waiting up ahead
But a silk white dove to hear my thoughts
Taking away the life I brought.
This is my shelter from the world.
Now thanks to me for this paradise
Just as well I never thought twice
This palace is home but to a queen
A place countless others never have seen.
I'm not coming back! No matter how hard you try
I've already vowed my goodbye
It wasn't hard to make the decision
Because you bags of rats
Made me feel like I was in prison.
