Heart Unbroken

Slowly he walked into my life
Slowly he healed my strife.
With tiny steps he eased my pain,
With tiny steps I laughed again.
He took my dark and gave me light.
He took my heart and made it bright.
He waited patiently till I could cope,
He waited, waited and gave me hope.
I gave him my heartache and he set me free.
I gave him my trust and now I am finally me.
He is the best man Ive ever known
and for him each minute my love has grown.
And as he walks close by my side,
My heart is bursting with so much pride.

Back To Front

Its time to come out
of the cupboard,
the closet, the press.
Time to be honest,
Time to confess.
Time to let on that
I am straight, surely
that will end the debate.
Yes I am hetero,
I really like men.
That's my secret,
My starter for ten.
Not that it matters
because I am just me.
There isnt a template
for who I should be.
So why are others
forced to confess?
Told to be honest,
their sexuality to address.
For we are all human, we are all real,
Its not up to others just how we should feel.
Its not about Hetero,
Gay or straight,
Its about people
and how they relate.
If everyone is equal
and their hearts are the same,
if they have skin, ten toes and a name.
Why should we push some of them
to make the claim, that their
orientation just isnt the same?
If we are all human's
thats the way it should be,
Just men and women with no
pressure to be ....... anything
other than You or Me.

Autumn Leaves

Turning Orange
Turning Red
Turning Golden they enthral my heart.
Falling gently,
Landing sweetly
Crunching wonderfully under my feet.
Autumn Leaves

I Found Love

I found love
When my heart was still dark,
When my mind was still troubled.
You found me.

I found love
when the pain was still strong,
When I was hard to love,
You came along.

I found love
with an amazing man
a man who waited
who waited for me.

I found love
when I needed it most,
When I had nothing,
You found me.

I found love
that mended my soul,
mended my heart
and made me whole.

I found love
that ended my fear,
ended my pain,
Made me, me again.

I found you
when the going was tough,
You gently made smooth
from the me that was rough.

I found you
the man who re-made me,
Who taught me to laugh
like never before.

I thank you
for giving me life,
for bringing me peace
in the midst of my strife.

I thank you for being
what I needed back then,
and for being my saviour
again and again.

I found you
and I love you still,
for making me well
when I was ill.

My Heart In Your Hands

Can you feel my heart?
Its in your hands.
Beating for the pain
you all must endure.

I cannot feel yours,
but I can imagine,
what being so far
from home is like.

I cannot hold your hand,
but you can hold my heart,
as I send you hope
from me, from afar.

I will think of you
as the bombs rain down,
as guns bleed bullets,
and lives are stilled.

I am in awe at your bravery,
selfless giving with out pause.
If I could thank you, I would
send my bursting heart to you.

You have my heart in your hands,
maybe not in full reality,
but in imagination and hope.
Keep it safe till your return.

For one day I'll see those of you,
those able to return.
Parading behind tear soaked coffins
wishing it was you in there and not your friend

On that day my heart will be yours,
full of pride at our men's achievements.
Especially those who give their lives
in the eternal hope of peace.

So soldier hold my heart,
feel it in your mind,
as I send you love and hope
of the warmest and proudest kind.

Child's Eye View

I try to show you the world,
things of culture in the afternoon sun.
Edinburgh Castle I say with glee......
"Look daddy a pond" is what you say to me.

Look at these artefacts, they
matter so much historically.
Please pay attention to me.
"But daddy there's a pond"
"Snails live in the pond" you say.

A trip to the museum to
open your mind. Yet what
is the most fascinating thing
you can find? "Look daddy a Pond"
is what you say.

So much for culture, history,
education. There's only one
thing you want to do..........
"Lets look at the pond daddy",
says you.

Lets look at the pond instead
of the boring old castle, its so
much more fun and so much
less hassle. Why have culture
when you can have a pond?

"Look Daddy a Pond", lets look
at the pond" and of course I
give in to you. "Come on daddy
lets look at the pond..........."

Dancing Free

Dancing to my own tune
Singing my own song
Being always who I am
Being only me.

Being true to myself
Honest with my heart.
Thinking only my thoughts
Living my own life.

Speaking the words
that are only mine
Writing the words that
are mine to write.

Being me and only me
Singing only my notes
Living only my way
The life I want to live.

Dancing down the road of life
Dancing wild and free
Dancing to the end of time
Dancing because I'm Me.

If

If I could take away
the pain in your eyes
and replace it with Joy
I would.

If I could take away
the darkness in your heart
and replace it with light
I would.

If I could take away
your useless arm
and replace it with a healthy one
I would.

If I could take away
your stumbles and falls
and give you back balance
I would.

If I could take away
your frailty
and give you strength
I would.

If I could take away
your despair
and give you hope
I would.

But for now
I will hold your hand,
Tell you Im here,
Show you I understand.

For once, the pain
was in my eyes,
and now its in yours
It shouldnt be this way.

And If I could take away
that pain in your eyes
and fill them with Joy
I would.

A Helping Hand

You needed a helping hand,
So I extended mine.
You needed some care
so I gave you some.

You needed a path
through endless pain.
I dried your tears
and helped you to try again.

You needed to know that
the dark wasnt endless.
I showed you some light,
And a heart that was kind.

You needed to know that
You were not alone.
I gave you some company
and a gentle tone.

You needed a friend when
the doors were all closing.
Someone to listen when
Your pain you exposed.

I held out my hand because
thats what friends do.
They stretch out to help
and understand you.

If you need me I'll be there
I'll hold out my hand
to you. And You wont be alone
in the dark anymore.

For anyone who is floundering in the darkness of depression.

Secret Wishes

My dearest one
I wish I knew
Which of your secret wishes
to give to you.

For only the ones
deep in our hearts,
mean the most
In our darkest hours.

I could give you peace,
love, happiness, a new job,
a new man, money and fame.
But that would be playing a different game.

For you only the best,
only a love that is true.
A love that recognises beauty,
Recognises you.

I have no power
to repair your heart,
but a friend's true love
may be a start.

Just know I will
be there when and whenever,
not granting wishes,
but understanding your need.

I'll hold your hand,
wipe your tears,
listen to your darkest thoughts
and deepest fears.

I'll be there to help you
find your new light.
I'm always your friend
don't give up the fight.
