My Land

A land that captures your attention;
encapsulate your thoughts of natural beauty and tranquility
A land of divine sunshine.
A place of seashores; a land with momentum water drop falls, exquisite white
sand beaches, winding rivers and streams.
Famous for its dazzling and enchanting creatures.
Picturesque greenery with blue mahoes, palms and coconut trees,

A place of much flora and fauna;
with dandelions, roses and lilies.
From plains to valleys to beautiful species of birds and bees.

A land with people,
people of different pride and creed.
Our rock solid history of hardship and struggle to a future of power and strength.

A land of much energy.
Our thrilling reggae music led by the great Bob Marley
 Courtney Walsh, Merlene Ottey and Veronica Campbell legends of sport.

A land with rich food and culture
Oh can we forget our: rice and peas, jerk chicken and pork, boiled bananas,
ackee and saltfish and rundun.

This place that distinguishes us from the rest.
Yes! a land full of flavour our land Jamaica.

Carbon Copy

Am I the one you dream of,
Am I the one you prayed silently for with closed eyes at your bed side,
Am I the one you magnificently created of her figment,
Deeply rooted and knotted in that dark part of your past.
Do you think you can create, recreate those vivid but vague images of her carbon
copy through me?

Am I the one you want to smile like her,
Caress, embrace and erase your deviant discrepancy.
Have you visualized the slaving, the hard work she put in?
It seems I am the one you want to prolong the epidemic of your rage

Am I the one you really care for
Or am I just a coaster to absorb that water from your glass
Am I the one you pictured walking towards you on that cool Sunday evening
In that small chapel on the side of that Hill.

Am I the one you will share and tell stories about,
The one who will inspire you to become greater than you.
Will I be the one you run to when all hell breaks lose?
Am I the one you place above all other.

Will I be the one to conceive and bear seed just to please you?
Seeds that resemblances you and in essences are you
Will I ever be that one?
The one you have morphed within the cavity of your brain.

Hope

He came to me not so long ago
With lying lips of nectar;
Adorned was he in a shiny Armour of hope,
Hope of eternal hope
With a shimmering disguise of false hope
That faded with time into eternity

Many were blinded by this quivering light
 Emitted at his premier
As this betrayal of hope crawls timely in your bed
And slowly manifests in itself your head.

I  often fantasize about the grand entry of this hope;
Slowly I grapple with the denial of the truth.
I am then jolted by the appearance of deceit
That many would not see not even me.

Disbelief

You came into my perfect little world,
with your charm and pose.
You dismantled my innermost wall with your ammunitions.
First you told me you liked me.
Then you said you were falling in love with me.
Sincerely you said you loved me.
And with disbelief I believed
And all this was just a lie.
I regret the moment of ever seen you.
Now, I thank you for that crude awakening.
