In Another Life

By the fire, crackling with warmth
We kept each other cool
Hands locking in the soft breeze
Eyes woven in a timeless pattern
Gentle for each other, dark lace
In another place.

Intelligent, your eyes spoke for your soul
You were nobody’s fool
Pretty words of love for infinity
Your thoughts raced ahead in time
Strong with a heart that knew no fear
In another year.

Beautiful moments, enclosed in the smoky air
Where music and silence rule
Fretful fingers wove flowers in my hair
As tender as the touch of the wind
Blazing love bled me like a knife
In another life.

For These, Child

With a sigh you breathe in heartache’s chill;
Locked in battles, you’ll remain trialled,
Stealing breaths from a grip that sure breaks will –
Why waste your tears on pain, child?

Grass scratching your back, sun kissing your skin,
The pure way someone you pleased smiled,
Music that plays chords that bleed deep within –
Here, spill your soul for these, child.

Let tears cool your cheeks as you sing, and show
YOU could make a moment to weep for – while
Your gifts and strengths are everything to know
You’ll love the life that’s yours, child.

For you’ll live the dreams you love so much
And learn sweet laughter when they fly wild;
In each goal you’ll shatter, every heart you touch
You never will quite die, child.

I Walked These Walls

Old but not forgotten, sleeping but not gone;
Fragments of a stronghold that battles on
Still weathering storms, though with little defence,
Sparks sadness within - though it makes no sense.
So why does this space stir my soul
With its whispered ancient calls?

They still fly the flag, but this place's pride
Is recorded in the ether of the bits left behind.
My soul speaks belonging, while the walls crumble down
And only the birds find shelter here now.
So why does this feel like coming home,
Like a thousand magnetic pulls?

Ascending the spiral, my spirit feels freed;
Looking down from above, my heart beats, it bleeds
For a once-loved kingdom now left in repose.
Yet within these walls resound beautiful echoes,
For I know each turret, each tower, each stone.
I hear their song. I walked these walls.

Tambourine Sonnet

No sonnet to hold the magic of feeling,
A trembling tenderness in my soul delights –
A shadowing sonnet to reflect the lights,
The beauty, the beauty, of ever believing.
No sadness to spoil the depth of compassion,
A freedom so simple, though love lives still –
A flyaway sonnet to soar with the thrill,
The release, the escape, of all love and all passion.
No days and no years could cut its throat,
A timeless emotion that cannot know never,
That can never quite give enough.
No cymbals for us with one splendid note –
A tambourine sonnet for you, forever
For the soft steady shake of this love.

I Sing the Song You Sing

My heart feels different now
Why is that my love?
In facing the pain it burst open
Wider, higher, clearer, free
Released from the old, the past I see.

My soul feels different now
Why is that my love?
Where there was pain it pulses
Beating, bubbling, vibrating so
Amplified by your light, your sacred glow.

My world feels different now
Why is that my love?
Where there was pain there’s hope
Ablaze, alight, awake, at peace
Reflected right across all distance, all seas.

My truth is different now
My heart, my soul, my love
I fly so high I can touch you;
Expanding so far I can feel you.

I sing the song you sing inside and out
Time and space don’t matter now
The truth is, we were never apart;
Not our worlds, not our souls, not our heart.
Healed forever, my love, starting now.

A Muse

Heart and soul, you touch me
Regardless of whether or not you’ll ever know
I have been breathing you
Turned on the lights in my darkened soul
And never again will I stand to be kept in the dark
My light smothered, my spirit closed
A free spirit now you released me
Tremble as you whisper in my ear
Though it’s not really you at all
Your energy comes over me
Like a ghost with good intentions
Constant love reaches between us
A stream created by a spiritual mystery
Know that I send you my love and light
And hope for everything you wish for
A sudden charge, a shock, a flash of energy
Finally hands me back my power
And I step in confident and beautiful and alive
Truly in my own power
I have only been a ghost of myself for too long
Your magnificence is my inspiration, my motivation
Your distant soul my safe haven
And beside you I disappear
Into an obscurity I am happy to be lost in
Endlessly share your beauty
It lights fires in the hearts and minds of many
And makes me free to dream
Wherever that world is where you lose yourself
To follow for a glimpse, I would gladly
You already showed me
A new way to be.

And So the Mist Clears

He's the reason I smile while I'm waking up
With his sweet words from the night before
In my heart; and in my mind, continued dreams
Roll on, and my spirit can soar.

He's the warmth deep within, and my tingling skin
Speaks how I never wanted anyone so much
As him; Nothing else matters when I am in
His arms. He had me at the very first touch.

He's the feeling I really could be beautiful,
That I matter, and that I am free
To choose my dreams, my destiny and my path
Knowing he would still walk with me.

He's the protection I needed to bring real peace
To my heart, and quiet my chaos of fears;
The inspiration to be a better person, and cease
Doubting myself. And so the mist clears.

He's the thought that brings hope when a hard day
Comes, and the song in my soul that grows;
I love that this man I admire and adore
Cares right back, and makes damn sure it shows.

But more than all this - he adds light to my light
And it blazes fierce when we're apart.
He is the man who holds me close each night
Whether in his arms, or in his heart.
