School

Graduation, we have come a long way to get to this day.
From the best friends since kindergarten,
To the drivers’ licenses of high school,
We all have grown.
Elementary was where we met our closest friends,
Middle School was where we branched out and tried new things,
High School was where we began the journey to find who we are.
Though our journey has only just begun,
Our lives have still been forming through the friendships made,
And the friendships lost.
Now that we are all closer to finding our selves,
Our paths may take different turns.
But always remember
No matter where we all are,
We are all still connected by our roots.

Dear Mother

Dear Mother,
Thank you for the love you share,
The advice you give,
The way you care.
Thank you for the strict rules,
The constant no’s
Pointing out the surrounding fools.
I know I don’t always show it,
So you may not think it’s true,
But no matter what happens,
I will always love you.

I'M Breaking Up With You

For the smiles you brought, I am grateful,
The times we shared, I will never forget.
But the lies you spoke will haunt me,
And your cheating you should forever regret.

Unlike you, I know when time is up,
When to let go instead of lying.
So now it is time to bid you adieu,
For I am tired of trying.

Oreo

Since the day you came home
You were my best friend.
My shoulder to cry on,
The fur beneath my tears and laughter.
My walking buddy,
Or should I say running buddy.
Though you are no longer with us,
You are still here,
In our hearts, forever year after year.

I'M Sorry

I’m sorry I’m not who you think I am.
I’m no valedictorian;
I’m just mere spam,
Only there to be of annoyance.

I’m sorry I don’t do what is expected.
I don’t always think things through,
I often need to be corrected,
Whether through scolding or consequences.

I’m sorry I’m not the daughter you desired,
Well-behaved, top grades, and always obedient.
But I am who I am, always inspired
To be creative and innovative.

I realize now being sorry isn’t right.
It’s who I am, not something that can be changed.
Instead of schoolwork, I like to write.
Nothing I try can change that.

You may not approve of what I do,
But I am still your daughter,
Through and through.
Accept me for me.

Friends Forever

Though we have had our ups and downs,
And our period of near silence,
When needed the most,
You are still there to listen.
Please believe it when I say
No matter where we are—
Whether near or far—
Know that I am always here
With open arms and open ears.
Never worry about talking too much
For I have all the time in the world
For a friend like you.
You’ve heard my struggles,
Now it’s your turn.

Dearly Beloved

Since the day I met you,
I knew there was something different.
With acceptance in your eyes,
I knew I was safe.
Nothing mattered anymore other than you smile,
And the smile you brought back to me when no one else could.
I didn’t know what “home” meant until you showed me the way.
The future is no longer a scare,
The past is no longer a factor,
As long as you’re with me,
The present is all that matters.
