Your First Tee

Ever so silent wind with its calm
the nature of the day is brilliant

Anticipation of performance consumes your
thoughts one two three and the spot light shifts
The weight of everyone’s eyes seem to mushroom
on your approach and the most minute sounds
become ever so present.

Hoping your body will remember
you take your last gasp of air
All you can do at this point
is pray for something respectable
As your eyes ascend and gaze
down the fairway you exhale
For this time you have escaped

Ever so silent wind with its calm
the nature of the day is brilliant

Candle Light

Used by all to see the sights
Centuries of power cutting through darkness
Hand in front of flame as you walk carefully
with candle light.

Strike a match lighting each wick
The cakes a glow celebration of another year
Make a wish and blow out candle light.

A tub of warmed water and cloth relieving the
day’s stresses, light switch to off room's a glow
from candle light.

A romantic moment dinner made with passion
Overcome with anticipation your guest arrives
The wine is poured dinner for two by candle light.

It’s festive times traditional songs we sing
House to house we go that eve with carol
Lyrics flickering from candle light.

At times of need and reflection found at the shrine
We kneel down in prayer with heavy thought and hart
Comes your offering through candle light.

A gathering a vigil a remembrance of one’s place
A single flame is lit, down the line it goes
As the crowd grows brighter showing unity and
compassion from all through candle light.

Celebrations mood grief and passion come to life
giving each moment deeper meaning
in the presence of candle light.

A New Season

Change noticeable in the air
shortened days give way to light
Whisper cool days deny winters
hold, fleeing the fight
Juvenile greens transforming
the colorless scape
Familiar sounds return
remarkably on que
A new season is here
arrives with an unfading scent
Gone too long is the time
as spring governs

Picture Box

For some strange reason the need to see
a look through the box of what use to be
Stacks of time some neatly arranged
a glimpse back at lives revealing times changed
What seems like yesterday can this be
time stamp on the back says May 83’

Look here’s one of gramps sitting in his chair
did I really wear that sweater by the way nice hair
Bundles of the kids when they were younger
is this you as a baby looks like your brother

Digging through reveal pictures of rare
a heavy gaze of thought can’t help but stare
Of more innocent times when I was younger
come black and white photos of my father and mother

How quickly it takes to look through the years
most pictures of joy some bring tears
Good for now until the next time I need
a look through the box of what use to be

Muse

Most of what I sees a flee
From time to time shear poetry
                           Eloquence embrace the very few
                             Linguist challenges the all too
Self- therapy to read and create
A poets mind at ease or crazed
Weather it’s skipping stones of reflection
                      or invigorated enlightenment. The mania
                       of many emotions compel consideration
crafting a poets passion laying down life

Wings of a Soul

Wings of a soul check up
on the
Gone from here for them to see
Perched up high upon a tree
Wings of a soul check up
on the
These souls of wing I do believe
swoon by at times while we
reminisce of the
Glimpse to the sky for one to see
Wings of a soul check up
on the
Thoughts of lost loved ones pass
through our day gazing out the
window of what use to be
Maybe just maybe next time
you’ll see wings of a soul
checking up on the
