Jay Randolph Poem
I am a comet.
Zipping by
Burning bright
but only for a moment.
Then I am gone.
Off to another planet
Another galaxy
Another universe.

Jay Randolph Poem
It was the first time
I was nervous
you were scared
(it's not the same)
your blonde bowl cut
made me
laugh.
my scars
made you
wonder.
It was the second time
I was unsure
you were in love
(it's not the same)
your hair was brown
and I remember blonde
my scars were fading
but more
appeared.
your technicolor smile
kept me
alive.
It was the third time
I was in love
you were unsure
(it's not the same)
your hair was black
and I remember blonde
my scars were permanent
you worried
I worried that
I was losing
you.
It was the last time
I was done
you were done
(it's the same)
I don't see you
I see a different
person
no goofy blonde
bowl cut
no technicolor smile
keeping me
alive
just scars.
