Missing You

Brightening up spirits all around,
Through the charming smile of
yours.
A true friend in you I found,
A shoulder to cry on for hours.
I seek your comfort when distressed.
Heed your advice if perplexed.

For the times we spent,I now crave
Memories cherished in my heart.
Our priorities but have,
Called for us to part.
For your proximity I long,
Can I express it in a song?

I'll miss your company,
Perhaps more than you'll miss mine.
Loads of fun, squabbles not many,
Days we spent together, truly divine.
Not to worry,no cause for a tear
As you live in my heart......my dear.

The Lockdown

Who knew a day would dawn
And bring life to a grinding halt!
Busy days are all gone,
Yet we are captive in our vault.

Streets are desolate and dark,
Barring the patrolling police;
Stealthily leaving its mark,
Is a novel viral disease.

As fear of death looms large,
Shut are malls and the rest;
While hospitals, those in-charge
Bravely try their best.

Monday blues are no more,
Work from home is a trend;
A hundred cures, we explore,
Wonder what will put an end!

Few rekindle hobbies lost,
Some are funding a cause;
Cleaner air is here at a cost,
Life is no longer as it was.

Hungry, helpless, the poor weep,
Washing away their smiles;
Peacefully we fall asleep,
While the migrants walk miles!

Set aside religion and race,
Social distancing is the key;
Help curb this menace,
Covidiots let us not be!

Remember this crisis we fought,
In every village, every town;
Cherish the lessons it taught,
For life beyond the lockdown.

Soldier-The Real Hero

All this when I remember,
Silently rolls down a tear.

Our country was in danger
And nation's pride at stake;
A bloody battle shook the border,
Turned into red sea, every lake.
At this thought, when I shudder,
Silently rolls down a tear.

Blood smeared the shining snow,
Battered and bruised bodies lay;
Fearlessly they faced every blow,
For whose sins did they pay?
For lives lost when i fear,
Silently rolls down a tear.

Spurred by the courage to kill,
Injured arms grasped the gun;
Then, fought with relentless will,
Knocking 'em down one by one.
As I sleep, while they slaughter,
Silently rolls down a tear.

Then collapsed on the ground,
Face exuding an eternal bliss;
And drifted to a sleep so sound,
On mother earth' s lap in peace.
When I raise candles in prayer,
Silently rolls down a tear.

Perhaps a loving son/brother,
Or apple of someone's eye;
They have all lost him forever,
Without a parting goodbye!
Their helpless cries, when I hear,
Silently rolls down a tear.

A war has no winner,
If only humans had known!
Religion or race no matter,
Every drop bled was our own.
Proudly when I salute a martyr,
Silently rolls down a tear.

Farewell

Genteel and articulate,
An inspiration you have been.
Loyalty and Passion
In you, we have seen.

Rising through ranks,
Sweat blood all this while.
Making your way,
Through every test and trial.

It's about time,
To graciously pass the baton.
Leaving a legacy,
That we'll now build upon.

Your cabin walls,
Will confine you no more.
You're set free,
To venture and to explore.

Nostalgia lingers,
As we bid adieu.
Happy 2nd innings Sir,
A new life awaits you!

Girl Child

Opening tenderly my eyes,
my first cry echoes all around;
I extend my arms for an embrace,
An unwelcome reception is all that I
get.
.....I should have known.

Juggling studies and the chores,
my efforts yield as much as they can;
I outdo myself expecting an
encouragement,
Unenthusiastic remarks is all that I
get.
.....I should have known.

Aspiring to be successful in life,
my hardwork is sure to accomplish
my dreams;
I try to convince people of what I can
do,
Dismissive criticism is all that I get.
.....I should have known.

I should have known all my life,
In vain would be the expectation and
regret;
I would brace and hone myself
instead,
So that some day....... appreciation
and praise is all that I get.

Mother-Child

"I don't possess what I deserve,
Some one got it easily enough;
Should I not cry ma, should I not cry?"
"Cry my dear, if that's all it takes
to succeed, but do think again,
Can Envying get you one's fortune?
Effort that could help you achieve,
is instead wasted like your tears."

"I will not help anyone anymore,
I'm not lent a hand in return;
Should I not help ma, should I not help?"
"Don't help dear, End up punishing
one for the thanklessness of another.
Help, to bail out someone today
And not to secure yourself tomorrow."

"I could not accomplish my dream,
Attempted again but to no avail;
Shud I not give up ma, shud I not give up?"
"Give up dear, if triumph without trial
Is how you expect it to be,
Your struggle infact is the foundation,
On which shall evolve some day
a gleaming structure of your success."

" I'll heed your advice for sure
Toil harder but will not surrender,
Will I then be happy ma, will I then be happy?"
"Ofcourse my dear, it's everlasting joy
When you sculpt your own success,
When your help brings upon a smile,
When dreams once envied by you,
With sheer persistence do come true."

The Boy Who Lived

Where magic thrives in peace, Yet no human ever beholds
Of witches, wizards, wands, it is, A miraculous story that unfolds.

He who mustn't be named, Power above all who desired
His own life, instead he claimed, When his curse backfired.

However lived the little one, Whose death was dearly sought
Life of misery as an orphan, In Dursleys' house who got.

'Harry Potter' was his name, Forehead sported a lightning scar
Ignorant was he, of his fame, Well known to wizards afar.

With serpents, wondered the kid, How could he speak with ease
Until one day came Hagrid, The keeper of the keys.

Handing him a letter sealed, Hogwarts school crest it bore
Harry's a wizard, he revealed, Truth of his scar & more.

Then at Diagon Alley, they bought, Supplies from store to store
Hedwig, a pet owl he got, & wand of a phoenix core.

From Platform nine three quarters, With friend Ron by his side
As nervous as fellow first years, At Hogwarts, Harry arrived.

Sorting hat then grouped them in, Houses named after founders four
The Ravenclaw, the Slytherin, The Hufflepuff & the Gryffindor.

As youngest seeker of Quidditch, Harry Potter rose to fame
Swiftly swallowed shining snitch, Despite the bewitched game.

Harry, Hermione and Ron, became best friends over time
Slew of adventures they set out on, Together partners in crime.

In year one, the trio on their own, Thwarted Quirrell's attempt again
Who sought 'The Philosopher's Stone', To end his master's pain.

Entering 'Chamber of Secrets' in year two, Harry stabbed diary of Dark Lord
With Fawkes flying to his rescue, He killed basilisk with a sword.

Next year the trio helped Sirius, The innocent 'Prisoner of Azkaban'
Escape using timeturner so mysterious, When Dementors' manhunt began.

Then surprisingly Harry's name, The 'Goblet of Fire' chose
From flesh, blood, bone on flame, In year four, Voldemort arose.

'Order of Phoenix' with Dumbledore, Rushed to rescue in year five
But lost prophecy kept in store, Yet again, Riddle escaped alive!

It was the prophecy that led, To claiming of several lives
Neither of the two could live, it said, While the other survives.

Year six then brought to fore, Secrets hidden ever since
Discovered Harry & Dumbledore, Horcruxes & 'Half-blood Prince'.

To bring You-Know-Who's downfall, Horcruxes were the key
One by one, to destroy them all, In year seven, set off the three.

As the saga drew to its close, Battled it out foes and friend
Eluded by 'Deathly hallows', Voldemort finally met his end!

My Nephew, My Angel

Gazing into your angelic eyes
All around, echo your cries
With tiny feet, tiny palms
I cradle you, in my arms
From sunset until sunrise.

Your pretty smile, I love to see
You mean the world to me
Care for you all day all night
Never let you be out of sight
On my mind, in my heart you be.

When in grief with tears to hide,
To seek advice or to confide,
Your aunt will lend a patient ear,
Or a shoulder to rest your tear,
You will find me by your side.

We've met just a while ago
Yet each other, we seem to know
Will always wish the best for you
May you succeed in what you do
Can't wait to see you grow.

The Smile

Bring up a smile,
Dear don't weep.
Let it awhile,
Play on your lip.

Wear your smile,
Whatever befall.
Just let your style,
Say it all.

Not the prettiest crown,
Can add such grace.
Be it a queen or a clown,
Adorns every face.

Your beaming grin,
When dazzles bright,
Every pain within,
Will seem alright.

Lips might fail,
A million words to say.
One smile shall,
Reveal it right away.

Revenge brings regret,
So warn the wise.
It's forgive and forget,
Where the secret lies.

Iim Bangalore

In the heart of bustling city,
It majestically sprawls across,
Mesmerising and gorgeous,
Bounded by pristine stone walls.

Awash with memories, I recall
Nights slogged until dawn,
Gearing up for exams and events
And placements to top it all.

Lived a dream with friends for life,
On these hallowed lands,
Rightfully the 'place to be', now and
Even in the years to come!
