Purrfection

Oh fantastic furry feline
So silent and still in slumber
White whiskers awaiting to wake
From dreams of docile dormice.

Mysterious and mesmerising moggy
Boundless beauty befalls you
Perfect plush paws and cutting claws
Bright beautiful eyes bestowed.

Oh valiant velvet cloaked vagabond
A spirit so wild and wilful
My love lies languishing in your heart
Come closer to comfort my soul.

Pompeii

Italian winds blow gently and smooth
Over hushed dusty remnants of lives past,
This once thriving city clueless of its fate
Lies frozen in time under hot blazing sun.

Chariots and horses stopped in their tracks,
Brothel patrons lie in silent passion
On lava beds of ashen cold comfort,
Slaves free of earthly bonds lie in timeless sleep,
Their masters’ tongues forever stilled from curse.

Nigh two thousand years of a forced respite
For countless lives ceased by nature’s great wrath,
Holy temples, theatres and great arenas
Forever preserved beneath a molten shroud.

Pompeian spectres roam their burial ground
Haunted by ancient Vesuvian eyes,
Watching and waiting until it’s time
To erupt her cruel rage once again.

Pasta Cat

There was a large cat from Llanelli
Who was terribly fond of spaghetti
One day out of menace
He travelled to Venice
Where he dined in the sun on a jetty.

Cats Eyes

Keen eyes of a cat
a feline Pandora’s Box
dare you look inside?

Invaders

Way out there in the star filled black
Who knows who is looking back?
Worlds unknown to us down here
Dare they visit us without fear?

Mystery and intrigue fills our mind
Of what lies up there and what we’d find,
Visitors to earth I very much doubt
If they knew what humans were all about.

The earth is battered bruised and torn
Its rich resources are now well worn,
Humans will never relent their rape
No peace from this nightmare – there’s no escape.

Rosie

Rosie

She bounced into my life like sunshine on four legs
Chasing paper balls and toying with clothes pegs,
Blooming with vitality and purrfect happiness
She keeps me entertained for hours with her playfulness.

My love for my sweet Rosie is as infinite as the stars,
As great as the distance is from here to planet Mars,
Her bright green eyes convey to me her little every wish
Which usually refers to something tasty in a dish.

On days when all my problems strive to weigh me down,
Rosie leaps upon my knee and banishes my frown,
How could I not be jovial with such a friend as this?
She fills my time with pleasure and I reward her with a kiss.

I love each wiry whisker upon her little velvet face,
Her lynx like ears, soft deep purrs and total flawless grace.
My life is so much brighter with this furry beaming light
Who ends my day with harmony when Rosie sleeps with me at night.

Felis Domestica

Revered, worshipped and idolised
For many a century past,
This model of faultless divinity
Continues to capture our hearts.

Clandestine, profound and bewitching
Epitome of pride and decorum,
A splendid work of nature’s fine art
Enlightens our lives with its aura.

Enchanting eyes reflective in light
During stealthy nocturnal ramblings,
Carnivorous stalker of boundless endurance,
A feline vampire of unfortunate prey.

This diminutive tiger of domestic dwelling,
Switches from aloof predator to loyal
Ally at the crossing of the threshold,
Expressing contentment with a deep vibrating purr.
