The Dark Bird

A see a bird in the corner of my eye
 black I believe
and I wonder of its name.
It could be a majestic magpie
 a beautiful blackbird
 a revered raven
 a caring crow
 or perhaps
 it wasn't black at all
but just a nice dark shade
 of deep charcoal.

Assonace

As I sleep, outside falls soft sleet and the winds sweeps most of it away.
The birds chirp as I usurp the position of a late sleeper today.
I wouldn't want to wake up too soon, in my comfy blanket cacoon
but as always, I must anyways.
I almost miss the quiet hiss
that signals the need of my cat getting its feed.
 After the summer's heat killing
 and the fall's sudden chilling
 it almost feels thrilling
 at the autmun parade.
