Toast To Our Friendship

Seventeen years and those silent Tuesday walks,
Numerous late night phone calls and those silent talks,
Just a need for a demand to be made,
One meeting ‘em every time and getting the other one swayed.

Those tantrums and not taking medicines while sick,
One ready to convince the other thinking every time what was said would just click.

Just generating a thought in the air thinking about you,
And getting a call the same day- Phew!!!

With the class-notes almost always sharing things we couldn’t say
With one living in zones of black and whites,
And other teaching to start considering life’s areas of grey.
When the sun shined one preferred to make hay,
While the other always learnt by often falling prey.

GOD created two replica minds with the world trying to make them compete,
But helping each other was something which would always make ‘em feel complete

More than friendship there was never anything concrete,
We never really needed anything that could make our friendship take a backseat.
The richness of this relation is something we’ve always cherished,
Every single day was a proud emotion we nourished,
I just hope this was something that could have in eternity flourished.

But I’ve realized that things are no more the same,
I no more own you and certain emotions have vanished or been replaced,
The only thought that makes me proud is
This friendship and emotions we shared were never lame

With Love To My Husband

When you came to my life,
I do not remember when I started wanting to be your wife.

Your innocent proposal to me made me spellbound,
My mind had to take no second thought's round,
to say a 'YES' and spend the rest of my life in your arms,
ever increasing my life's charms.

Your capacity to hear,
sometimes makes my eyes shed down a tear.
You always hear my woes,
which many a times keep you on your toes,
preparing ideas for dealing with my foes.

You've been a professional mentor,
who always occupies my heart's center.

You've a poor sense of humor,
but I've never seen you spread any rumor.

It's not that we never fight,
which has given us days both dark and bright,
But Promise me, Promise me- We would always do things that are right,
And I promise you that I would always think of you with a smile before closing my eyes every night ....

Love and Pain

Sweet and happy it is...
Crests and troughs like a sine wave,
Bitter and painful it is.

My Father

People say, it’s very difficult to reach out to their fathers,
But my father adds to the count of my cap’s feathers.

                                          More than a father-daughter,
My relation with him has been more of honor.
He would stand for me against anyone who would try to bother.
With all his decisions for my life turning positive,
Sometimes I doubt: With GOD, is my father my life’s fellow author?

During our high school days,
his day would start at 4 in the mornings,
giving us the first wakeup call,
and thereafter some tactical warnings.
Preparing us morning tea,
Then drive us to tuition daily with a mission
Of giving us a future that was trouble free
Right from ironing the uniforms of his daughters number one, two and three
To growing them into girls who were allowed to argue and make their father
agree
To making sure that he gave us values that would be as strong as roots of a
banyan tree,

Working selflessly all knowing that he would have to let go
and set his money making kids very soon free
Bright future of his kids is what my father always believed in
and could foresee.

What my father did for us,
I can never forget,
I've got the best father on Mother Earth,
This is what I can bet.

My Mother

My Mother

Oh mother!! You are such a blessing in my life,
That I hardly ever had to bother,
to share my feelings with nother.
You gave me 2 sisters one after the other,
And have done every little thing to make my life smoother,
Always gave me strength to put my shattered hopes together.
Life would have been harder,
if you were not standing by my side.
Your efforts never let my dreams fade,
even with small-big mistakes I made.
When I was trying hard, you were trying harder
clearing my path off any boulder.
Every time I cried, giving me a shoulder,
Every time I lied, becoming a scolder.

Tough conditions on the path of truth and honesty,
With time and people often making me cynical,
Many a times drove you to become self-critical,
But you never failed to understand my pain,
whether it was emotional or physical.

You put your interests on back-foot,
                  So I could pursue mine.
I've seen you make sacrifices so that your kids could always shine.
I’m sure GOD the ALMIGHTY has created only one such mother,
                       And she’s mine, she’s mine, she’s mine.

Touching my cheeks making 'em red...

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

The stars are shining and down comes the snow,
Making us happy, letting go the woe,

With the mercury dipping and the weather turning cold,
Let the Christmas fun begin and year 2015 unfold.

As the new year unfolds,
Make a new vow that holds-
Enjoying GOD’s different creations,
Which had no boundaries of numerous nations.

This year-
Enjoy your life’s real assets,
Fine tune your time budget.

Take a step away from gadgets,
And a step closer to the family.

A step away from hatred,
And a step closer to love.

A step away from insecurities,
And a step towards new confidence.

A step away from dying conscience,
To feel the humanity’s essence.

This year make a promise to yourself to just be human and no one else.

Often She Misses the Missed Walk

Sitting next to someone, she looked across the window

Sunshine a while ago and crazy turns the sky blue
Mind unable to imagine if it was something true

A light voice falls on the ears "if it snows today, we’ll go for a walk outside…."
She thinks- did I hear it right or is it a thought I should keep aside

She doesn’t have a jacket weatherproof
Her heart says-With what I just heard, do I even need the roof'

She sees white snow cotton balls rolling down the sky…
The heart beat suddenly rising a sea tide high

A second time the same voice saying- It’s snowing outside

The thought that indeed lured
Still the voice was knowingly but unwillingly ignored
Whether it was snowing or it would have that day poured
Could her heart ever be ensured

It snowed that day, the day passed and then a month
Gone was the snow and the year
But the voice so tender, still falls on her ear-

Secretly she wishes one more time the same she could hear
"Dark turned the sky a while ago was amber, it's snowing outside, let's step out of the chamber"
Often she thinks- "Wouldn’t it have been a walk to remember"
Had she listened to her heart- "Wouldn’t it have been a walk to remember"
