My First Baby

The doctor said you are pregnant my dear
A baby growing under my heart, oh so near
A flurry of emotions that my heart went through
A baby, oh my what will I say, what will I do
I am not sure I am ready for this test
What if I fail? What if I don't do my best?

The days go by and they sure do fly
One minuteI 'm happy, the next I cry
Oh what is the I suddenly utter?
It's a small but significant flutter
You are moving, kicking and growing
Soon I can't hide you I will be showing

It won't be long now the doctor tells me
Oh how happy I will be when your face I first see
The pains I feel will all be long forgotten
When I hold you in this blanket of cotton
Your cries will be the sweetest thing I hear
Oh baby, its getting oh so near, Oh so near

They say push and I all but shout
One more push and then you are out
Tears of joy run down my face
Nothing baby can ever take your place
My darling baby girl, I kiss your cheek
You open your eyes of blue to take a peek

The years go by and you grow up fast
Only if I could make them last and last
Your first kiss and sweet sixteen
The most beautiful teenage queen
Graduation and off on your own
Oh my how lovely you have grown

You met the man who makes your heart sing
He asked you, you said yes and took his ring
marriage vows said before family and friends
This is not the ending , it is where it all begins
a baby of your own some day, you will see
Just how much you still mean to me

Moonlight Shadows

The moonlight dances across your floor
I stand silently, watching at your door
Sliently creeping towards your bed
Touching lightly the curls upon your head
Your hands clutching that old teddy bear
Should I pull the covers closer, oh do I dare

That beam of light closer still, Oh so near
Touching you softly as you sleep my dear
Butterfly kisses on your little pug nose
Your blond hair like a halo glows
Drifting up your face to your lips
Rosebud lips, silently, quietly it slips

When in the morning you awake
Not a sound did the moonlight make
The day will bring the sunlight in
To dance and play with you again
One last look and then I will go
I love you baby, I love you so

What Is Love

People ask, some answer, most don't know
It's a feeling, a thought, an emotion that grows
It's all there is, what some avoid, others treasure
Some give it freely, some covet, and some can't measure
It's unconditional, not always traditional, but there
A fine line they say, hate and love, not always to share

Indescribable, irresistible, heaven sent from above
Pretty in pink and on the wings of a snow white dove
Just a joke, only for fools, angels fear to tread
Less than perfect, makes a strong man dread
Saves the lonely heart, something to look forward to
Pleasantly amusing, comfortable like an old shoe

Whatever it means, whatever it is matters not
Its only in the heart and soul of the besot
It belongs to those who taste its sorrow
And go on to love again tomorrow
It's for a little while, or forever more
I know it's for the one I will always adore

Friends Like You

I have many friends who share my sorrow
Some are here today, and gone tomorrow
They listen , but, don't always hear
Always around but never near
They seem to never have a clue
Nothing like friends like you

Friends like you show you care
Friends like you let me share
Friends like you never judge
Friends like you don't hold a grudge
Friends like you keep my secrets
Friends like you have no regrets

My other friends turn their back
Many times they seem to lack
Many things they k=just can't say
Like how are you doing today?
It's always what they want to do
Nothing like friends like you

Friends like you, show up with tissues
Friends like you listen to all my issues
Freinds like you, let me cry it out
Friends like you know what it's all about
Friends like you forgive my mistakes
Friends like you have what it takes

My other friends never want to talk
Have some coffee, or take a walk
They live their life and forget to call
These things are all so small
But remind me is what they do
Luckily I have friends like you
