My First Baby
The doctor said you are pregnant my dear
A baby growing under my heart, oh so near
A flurry of emotions that my heart went through
A baby, oh my what will I say, what will I do
I am not sure I am ready for this test
What if I fail? What if I don't do my best?
The days go by and they sure do fly
One minuteI 'm happy, the next I cry
Oh what is the I suddenly utter?
It's a small but significant flutter
You are moving, kicking and growing
Soon I can't hide you I will be showing
It won't be long now the doctor tells me
Oh how happy I will be when your face I first see
The pains I feel will all be long forgotten
When I hold you in this blanket of cotton
Your cries will be the sweetest thing I hear
Oh baby, its getting oh so near, Oh so near
They say push and I all but shout
One more push and then you are out
Tears of joy run down my face
Nothing baby can ever take your place
My darling baby girl, I kiss your cheek
You open your eyes of blue to take a peek
The years go by and you grow up fast
Only if I could make them last and last
Your first kiss and sweet sixteen
The most beautiful teenage queen
Graduation and off on your own
Oh my how lovely you have grown
You met the man who makes your heart sing
He asked you, you said yes and took his ring
marriage vows said before family and friends
This is not the ending , it is where it all begins
a baby of your own some day, you will see
Just how much you still mean to me
