Kataya

A gulf as wide
As the ocean
Exists between
You and me.
Though the distance
Is great,
And the silence
Screams,
My love for you will
Never change.
It will ever be
As strong…
Strong and steady...
As the very first time
I heard
Your heart beat.
You are my firstborn
And will
Always be my baby.
I love you
Kataya.

The Photograph

A black and white image
photographed long ago
framed and protected
hangs on the wall
a handsome young soldier
his pretty little bride
their eyes shining bright
with love and life

life, long and happy
for the man and his wife
three children, a house
and the love never runs out
sixty-one years full
of joy and delight
were captured in that
first black and white
of a handsome young soldier
and his pretty little bride
as they began the beginning
of a wonderful life

Joy

Weep not my child
for pain and sorrow
truly endure only thru the night
glorious joy doth come in the morn.
And OH! What a bright
and overawing Joy!
And in the sight of such wondrous Joy
all earthly care fades
as the wisps of an early morning fog fade
when exposed to bright sunshine!

That terrific Joy is the Strength
of the Lord!
When you feel you have endured
all the pain and sorrow you can handle
and you must be at the end of that night...
Remember...

Glorious Joy doth come in the morn.
And OH! What a bright
and overawing Joy!!
