Ricky Smooth Poem
"What if you woke up tomorrow with only
what you asked god for today?"
As I read, a scowl is freed, then a smile
indeed, and I'll tell you why - I say:
"Poseidon is not so beneficent,
And neither - I wager - is Zeus.
So it seems to me if a man is honest,
he wakes up with what HE has produced."
This much is true. But I jest, of course,
I know they mean well, but let's see...
If god is provider, I'll have some hot cider!
...And yet none is present for me.
"Now, now, be a gentleman. Don't let your
sharp tongue be like teeth." I think.
But if others' boats fill with water,
ought I not inform them they'll sink?

Ricky Smooth Poem
Whoever said
open eyes betray emotion
never knew them
closed.
For, love is
an ocean 'til the rivers
feeding it give up the
ghost.
I stand huddled
at this puddle, puzzled,
foot nuzzling the
coast.
No ghost or
god of old pages boasted
could sing these hollow
notes.

Ricky Smooth Poem
Smack.
Backpack latch intact,
knee fractured?
Collapse.
Need help.
Breath trapped.
Vision black.
Drop.
Vision back.
Snap, crack, roll past.
Sound echoes from
the ground - green grass.
Half past three,
now.
Kevin and the other seven
can't even believe how
I can still breathe.
Wow. Was it that grim?
I mean, I remember falling...
but were my chances that slim?
First push - NO.
Vis-ion spl-it b-y pa-in
CALM.
What was that about "no gain"?
Bullshit. I'm gonna
pull a hat out of a rabbit.
No prize was ever hung
right for us to grab it.
So.
Second push - NO (Don't care)
I'm getting out of this.
Incomes night around
my eyes like it was practiced.
SssssttaaaaNNNNddd.
Swirls. Eye-lightening.
Everything is gone.
Lean. Sight brightening.
Slow return, thighs burn.
Sight from eyes spies
A way down into the
landing. What BLUE skies.
Focus.
Crude, non-fluid movement
and a curse for God,
hobble and step,
balancing foot on sod.
Steps into a future.
You decide.
