Slobodan Luchezarny Poem
Seawater smell and sultry air
Of tropics I dream in despair!
Oh, those days under hot sun!
Oh, those nights that I had fun!
My youth, my every thought and wish
Then could be told as devilish!
The time when I was on the edge,
The Fortune’s bids that I could pledge!
My poor asks, my brave desires –
All once again found in mires!
When only sky, and wind, and sea
Were all my friends and family!
In spite of everything I’ve done,
In spite of present days rush run,
In spite of words that I would say,
In spite of games I used to play,
In spite of all unwritten lyrics,
I do devote my panegyric
To youthful fame of mine and more
To days that come back nevermore!..

Slobodan Luchezarny Poem
I’ve seen the seaman’s life around,
So, when I step on solid ground,
Where I’ve forgot how life self goes,
Who rules this world and how grass grows,
I have a feeling of distortion
Of everything to smallest portion,
And breeze that blows humans’ faces
Out to the ugliest grimaces
Again remind me days and nights
That being spent away from lights,
The cities’ smogs and women’s laces,
Were fulfilled with the Ocean races,
Night watches, squalls, and pitch, and roll –
To name a few to d*mn’em all!
The sunsets miles away from home
And countries hardly ever known
To those wasting lives ashore,
The highest tides and cheapest whores,
The destined ups-n-downs after
I only heard the Fortune’s laughter,
When everything that I could make,
Was my face’s smiling poor fake!
I do remember ships-n-captains,
The seamen’s dreams of life like sultan’s,
Drake’s Passage monster waves and waters,
Chinese typhoons and bloodshed slaughters,
The taste of salt upon my lips,
The Lord God’s mercy giving tips,
Sea spirit, zest and playful mood
That raise up right in neighborhood,
Yet frequent kicks and rare smiles,
Else shipborne deaths, officials’ files,
And - to complete this shortest list –
Dead leeward leak and starboard mist!

Slobodan Luchezarny Poem
We are the Masters of the Seas:
Beyond the past, beyond the globe,
Beyond the glory, the disease,
Here lies our Way, intent, unprobed!
Who told you once – you ain’t the prince,
You ain’t the lord, ain’t your life Master?
And ain’t you ever felt that breeze
Forgiving previous disaster?
Yes, who you are and what you’re worth,
You are to blame and to admire!
Responsible for every loss,
For every life that’s put on fire!
And yet you are, to tell the truth,
That only one who’s been addicted
To fight for life - not rest in peace!
Your Destiny’s such way depicted…

Slobodan Luchezarny Poem
Again, again I hear the sound
And feel the smell of ship’s playground
Where I have spent half life at seas
And more “Eyes front!” than “Stand at ease!”
And Life itself was measured value
Upcoming with the catchcry: “Hey, you!”
Oh, yes, we were what’s called “fresh springs”
With fancy-schmancy earings,
And waves that rocked ship up-n-down
Carried away us from hometown!
Remember Gulfstream’s gutty waters,
Remember wives, and brides, and daughters,
Remember mothers, sons and fathers,
Remember friends and many others?!.
… Time passed away, we all ashore…
Where’s our ships we dreamed before?
The only thing I ever miss –
That smell of salt, and youth, and breeze…
