Chisom Gabriel Poem
I saw it coming
As fierce as expected
Like strings of strong spears
piercing and garbing hearts
All tremble at this horror
All but them
Indeed an ordeal
An incarnation of evil
Blood the avatar was
The redness and horror of blood
Sharp pains and sudden dizziness
profuse bleeding at pores with
dissolution
Where are the fragment of our
future?
Our eyes all drenched in red water
As trumpet of cries from the
parrots
And wails from other birds
Rises from different pitches
All have been broken and shattered
We all wait after it all to gather
Our emaciated bones together,our
remnants.
We've lost all in this rift
Returning is difficult
And going forward is almost
impossible
We've lost all execept this
thatched fence that left this
memory to us all
A memory in our hearts like a track
That the train of anguish will
forever ride..

Chisom Gabriel Poem
I will tell u a story
My love,
A story of ur beauty to tell
The beauty of ur natural skin to
spell
I will tell u a story
For each strand of ur hairs
Shy green hairs in harmattan's
whirling wind
Those hairs that beautify your
black
skin
I will tell you a story
Of praise to each colour on your
blouse
That green which connotes fertility
And the white which depicts your
purity
I would love to tell u dis
story,not
on a moonless night but on a day
like dis,
But I can't cause tears still blur
my vision
These same tears has eclipsed my
mission
I will tell you a story
An apology for my past promises
At your younger years
Those years u toiled nd toiled with
no father
I will tell you dis story
When my tear-blurred eyes are clear
again
I will tell u dis story like an
opera
I will sing to you my son,my
LOVE,'NIGERIA'

Chisom Gabriel Poem
Had
we
but
word
enough
and
time
This
coyness
my
lady
were
no
crime
When
she
rows
her
boat
down
my
heart
Leaving
a
track
in my
shattered
soul
A
track
that
left
us
across
d road
I
have
been
shot
by
her
arrows
Now I
bleed
red
milk
of
grief
Sharp
pains
and
profuse
bleeding
at d
pores
with
dissolution
An
incarnation
of
infatuation
Thwarting
and
scratching
d
skin
of my
patience
I
pray
thee
dat
if we
meet
again
May
it
not
be on
a day
like
this
May
we
meet
instead
at
night
When
d
moon
has
failed
That
when
I
peer
at
thine
eyes
I
might
see
the
Love
dat
tore
my
Love
for
you..

Chisom Gabriel Poem
Rooted in this valley
We watched the sun fold her
petals
one by one into the navel of
the sky
Betraying us into an ambush of
shadows
Frightened we tremble as the
wind weeps through the trees
like a blind man's wife looked
outside on a rainy night
Time wound our heels
Time heals our wound
If we shall ever meet again, may
it not be on a moonless
night,that we not peer like
strangers into each other's face
May we meet instead under the
old crescent and transparent
smiles of the moon
That we may bend slightly
amidst silent smiles and
knowing nods in recognition of
the wrinkles of suffering and
dimples of smiles on each
other's face..

Chisom Gabriel Poem
The land wreathes in rhythm;
And caressed with cruel history and rough tenderness,
Scratching the skin of my patience.
Absorbed with the shock,
I'm suspicious of this happiness
Like I've been.
The dearth of space
And the eloquent but emptiness of time,
Betrays me to presently squash and squander my solitude
I recognize this place,
This wilderness men call life
I've been here once,
Maybe more and more
Corollary to the indelible pregnancy
Of this thorns
And the profuse smiles in my wrinkles
Swam the Mediterranean
And climbed the Everest
But the pastures have all been eaten by termites.
Can't climb Kilimanjaro again;
Not because it's low,
But because it's home.
Now the sojourner is back
With more debt
Clinging to the breast of silence
And succouring in the navel of sighs without relief.

Chisom Gabriel Poem
When duty comes
Knocking at your door,
Don't bid it wait.
Cause if you do
He'll go
Only to return
Bringing with it
Ten more duties
Banging at your door.
