Claire Bowl Poem
The coolness of the morning air, rushing over me,
Silent running, sunrise, peace, tranquility,
Heart is pumping faster, breathing getting deeper,
Stride’s becoming shorter, as the hill grows steeper.
Rain is gently falling, cool upon my face,
Refreshing me all over, quickening my pace,
This therapeutic feeling, flowing through my veins,
It overtakes my tiredness, as I start to feel the strain
Run is almost over, slowly homeward bound,
Silent running through the streets, making not a sound,
Endorphins start to surface, I feel like I can fly,
An energy comes bursting out, must be the runners high :0)

Claire Bowl Poem
Space Hoppers, Power Cuts, Texan Bars & Playschool,
Record Players, Tiny Tears, Ford Capri’s (I thought were cool),
Bag Puss, Mrs Thatch, Wonder Woman, Rainbow,
George, Zippy, Rod & Jane, Bungle - have I got them all?
Dial A Disc & Rotary phones, Vinyl Records, Space Dust,
John Travolta, Happy Days, Dolly Parton’s HUGE bust
Tape Recorders, TDK’s, Top 40 taped on Sundays
(Chatting ‘bout what’s Number 1, when back at school on Monday)
Baby Cham, & Chopper bikes, lava lamps and Spangles,
Fondue Sets, & Mateus Wine – (you tried your best to wangle)
Nitty Nora (the bug explorer), Izal toilet tissue -
(was unforgiving on your bum, and gave you ‘other’ issues)
J.R., Dallas, Dynasty, shoulder pads & bitching,
AIDS, the brand new STD, much more than just an itching
Grange Hill, Zammo, Heroin, ‘Just Say No’ they sang
Jools and Paula on The Tube, with up and coming bands
Rubik Cubes, & great big hair, Roller Boots & Pac Man,
New Romantics everywhere – Spandau Ballet, Duran Duran
Frankie Says, & Ra Ra Skirts, odd Fluorescent socks
Red Hot Chillis, posing nude, (‘cept socks upon their c**ks)
MADchester & Afflecks Palace, Bez in Happy Mondays,
Shaking his maracas - (looks like every day’s a fun day)
Acid House, illegal raves, yellow smiley faces
The strangest craze in 89? – Grolsch tops on Brosette’s laces
So many happy memories, you took for granted then,
A shame you can’t go back in time, and live it all again,
Will our kids look back in time with fondness like we do?
It seems that culture lost its way some time in '92...

Claire Bowl Poem
Autumn Glory
Coloured leaves of red and of gold,
Cling to trees, of new and of old,
Gently they fall, not making a sound,
An autumnal carpet, shrouding the ground
Sun slowly rising on a cool misty morn,
A nip in the air in the first light of dawn,
The alluring cry, of a crow’s lonely call,
As it solitary stands on the old garden wall
Creatures, gathering, in time for their slumber,
Preparing for Spring, when they wake with such hunger,
Gardens of plenty, are slowly subsiding,
Colours, fading, or go into hiding
All Hallows and Guy Fawkes, little ones excited,
Pumpkins, fireworks, imaginations ignited,
Bonfires, sparklers, chestnuts & peas,
Warming us through before winter does freeze

Claire Bowl Poem
*I wrote this with John Lennon’s Happy Xmas (War Is Over) tune in mind.
Happy Xmas (When’s It Over?)
SO this is Xmas
Where did the year go?
No money left over
To have and to hold
And SO blinking Xmas
Is here once again
It’s over indulgence
For women and men
A Very Merry Xmas
And a Happy New Year
With mince pies and brandy
Some Champers and Beer
And SO this is Xmas
The kids are on high
Your granny is snoring
(too many pork pies)
And SO Happy Xmas
Your trousers feel tight
Another dry sherry
I’m too weak to fight
A Very Merry Xmas
And a Happy New Year
With trifle & custard
Washed down with warm beer
And SO this is Xmas
Your waistline no more
Another dead brain cell
You try to ignore
And SO Happy Xmas
I hope you’ve had fun
Prosecco and chocolate
All shows on your tum
Yes, A Very Merry Xmas
And a Happy New Year
I wish you a good one
Without any tears :0)

Claire Bowl Poem
You are the stars burning brightly against the night sky,
The delicate sound of Angels wings as they quietly float by,
Laughter captured on the breeze, joyful and heart-warming,
The blossom bursting into life, on a fresh Spring morning
Safe in your own piece of heaven now, out of harm’s way,
Free to run through fields of dreams, free to dance and play,
To be allowed to be a child, with laughter so contagious,
To never again be punished, for being a little audacious

Claire Bowl Poem
If I could dive inside your head,
And reach the map of your mind
I’d find a road that’s endless
A place that’s hard to find
Your map, it does confuse me
The roads are long and winding
Twisting one way, then the other
None ceasing up hill climbing
Don’t think I’ll ever reach you
Your mind is a one way street
An area strictly out of bounds
I sense your building heat
Here we are now, face to face,
Between us an emotional barrier,
Should I put up the fight of my life?
Take flight, you are no warrior
So I drive in the other direction
To avoid the head on collision
Steering clear of conflict,
Till I have clearer vision.

Claire Bowl Poem
Dreams
Sunshine creeping,
wind is weeping,
Arid rainstorm
wakes my sleeping
Moonshine blinding,
spirits finding,
Ways to walk roads
long and winding
Trees are screaming,
out their meaning,
Reaching out
to souls of dreaming
Thunderous rush,
sense the hush,
Lightning strikes
